Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Yeah, it is strange that they dont mention ECC support anywhere on their website. With a little googling i found this on amdzone.
Which further indicates ECC support on the 990-fxa motherboard line.
And a picture of the ECC settings on the Gigabyte 990fxa-ud5 WITH unbuffered ECC memory...
Ok, i just bought a Gigabyte 990fxa-ud5 and 16GB unbuffered ECC memory from Kingston.
Testing the board with ordinary non-ecc memory shows hides all options in BIOS for ECC memory.
As soon as i switched to the new unbuffered ECC memory, i got the option to enable ECC in BIOS.

Did you create the array on the Dell controller, making it a normal raid0 array?
If you did, then i believe you have run into this issue:
http://www.servethehome.com/lsi-9211-8i-sas-2008-8x-ssd-raid-0-bug/
Will that memory work with the board?
AFAIK, there is not a 8GB dimm for the E3 series avaible from Kingston yet.
The E3 series need ECC unbuffered memory, the memory you've selected is registered, which is not supported, and will not work.
To see which Kingston dimms will work, look here
It clearly states in the spec sheet, that you only get 4 x SATA ports on that card. If you want to connect more than that, you need to use a SAS expander.
Yeah, price could be a deal breaker, however, a C32, 4 core CPU starts at $110, and can later be upgraded to a Bulldozer 8 core.
If the Tyan board lands around $300 you could save over $100 on MB, CPU and SAS controller and be able to upgrade with faster CPU and more ram in a year or two.
Of...
Tyan just annoounced the S8010 series, what do you guys think of it?
1 x Socket C32
Up to 64 GB Reg. DDR3
3 x PCIe x8, 1 in x16 slot.
Integrated IPMI/iKVM
Integrated LSI SAS2008
6 x SATA2
Dual Intel gigabit NIC + Management NIC
I was planning on buying the Supermicro X9SCM-F when...
@young_einstein: Yeah, its a rebrandet Norco, but we cant get Norco here in Europe, unless we import it ourselves, and even if we do that, with freight, customs and taxes, it will be roughly the same as if we just buy from Xcase ( I choose to import, and saved around 10$ compared to xcase)...
PM SynergyDustin on these boards. He will give you a great price, and update the card for you. Highly recommend him. Not sure what his exact price is atm. though.
In the new iX lineup from intel, it is not the CPU, but chipset, that determines whether there are ECC support or not.
Stick an iX cpu in a motherboard with a server chipset, and you will have ECC support. Put an iX cpu in a motherboard without a server chipset, and ECC support is gone...
