For drive compatibilty, there are loads of new intel U.2 drives on ebay. I got one for my old 7920x/x399 build and just got an M.2-U.2 adapter to use it in my current 7900x/670E build. It works great as a 2nd drive for games. If i had the PCIe slots and bandwidth I would got more.
So, rig 2 was hastily cobbled back together for the challenge, a backup bequiet 600w PSU and a RTX A4500 helped. Currently in the middle of doing the rebuild so the SSD has been installed and a new PSU is hopefully being purchased this weekend. Then its just a case of a 2nd GPU for that machine...
My 2nd rig died again at some point on sunday, thought it had trashed the new gpu i just put in. Thankfully its just the PSU that i needed to replace anyway. So i'm back up to what is currently full power.
Well the 2060 does work so rig 2 is sort of back up and running, however the final hardware list for this machine is now looking like this:-
Replacement SSD as the HDD is dying,
Replacement PSU around 1000w
a pair of replacement gpu's
No UPS, being in the UK i think we generally have clean power and I have no issues with my daily driver and its on around 9 hours a day.
