    I've been in a house here in Australia that has a very similar thing happening, they have two stainless steel rods running above the kitchen island bench with ELV running through them then LED Downlights connected to the rod's.

    All i can say, is god help you when you have to remove the tape to change the layout or components. Even the best electrical tape leaves a pain in the rear residue over everything.
