    macbook or macbook pro

I do pro video and I tend to have to use Blender for some 3D effects. I run a MacBook Pro 17". I'll put it this way, if you intend on doing HUGE 3DS Max scenes, get the MacBook Pro 17". But for graphic art, there is no need for a macbook pro. I have an old G4 Quicksilver in my arsenal and...

Can someone with an iMac comment on using iMovie for video editing?

I do pro video editing and FCP is the way to go. Personally, if you really want to get into video editing, go get Final Cut Studio. The Mac Pro is the perfect machine to run it. The Studio runs fine on my G4MDD, G5 Quad, and MacBook Pro. The only thing is, if you want to just make home movies...

New build what do you think

draws more power from AC Power line to sustain higher wattages :D, also it heats ones case which causes the CPU to run less efficiently and heats up one's room... plus that PSU is WAYYY overkill

New build what do you think

I just must've not gotten a bad batch or something. PCP+C PSU's are way overpriced and this person does not need a gigantic PSU that not only costs more power to run, but it also heats up your entire case and you will never use all "More then other PSU's" 510W's. Whereas with a NeoHe, they run...

    Upgrading, have $500

I'm not sure if this is a bug, or a feature with my CPU. It idles at 45ishC and runs at about 70C under load.

New build what do you think

PCP+C are overpriced, and I kinda run an Asus system with an Antec NeoHE, with no problems, KthnXbye.

starting from scratch, hows this look?

I've had a few problems with Centurion in the past. I would reccomend an Antec P180. They're very big inside and offer great cooling. My ambient case temp idles at 78F/26C

New build what do you think

Phix: ...wattage assuming an ambient temp of 25c... These are PSU's from Taiwan Mainly. The PCP+C 510 is very warm and doesn't fit in many cases. Antec tests at 45C I think. Their PSU are very good, most are modular, and the cables are A) Pre-wrapped in heat-shrink and mesh, and B) Easily...

New build what do you think

That power supply is HUMONGOUS. Get something that's not PC Power and Cooling, I bought their 1KW PSU.... It doesn't fit in my case, they have horrible tech support, it raised my case temp 8C(once I got it to fit, It involved a hacksaw). Also, don't get and Ultra X-Connect as an alternative...

    Tired of worthless Capture devices

Get a Canon XL-H1. I have one and it owns. It can do capture from S-Video, RCA, BNC, Firewire, audio from SPDIF. It's amazing. You need that, don't mind the pricetag.

    From MX518 to G5. Worth?

I have a G7 and I love it. It gets rid of all the lag that I had with my MX700. Go with the G5. It 0wN><0|2s d00d!!!1one! EDIT: What's also pretty cool is that the software that comes with it allows for you to bind certain mouse buttons to certain functions. It also lets you have different...

    help, idle is 48c

I have the same problem. My CPU is at a constant 45C or higher and goes up to 70C under heavy load(Cellfactor). It's an intel P4 3.2Ghz Prescott(800 Mhz FSB, HT, the whole 9 yards). I have it cooled with an Asus Crux. My ambient room temp is about 76F and my case temp is 26C. I run an...
