Finally ditching my pair of 4850's..

Could it be a driver issue? They used the old Catalyst 10.12. No, the system used is strong: ASRock mobo, AMD Phenom II X6 CPU 1075 @ 3.8 GHZ, 4 GBs of DDR3 RAM-1600. OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (does not say if it is 32 or 64-bit one). The resolutions used are 1680x1050 and 1920x1080.

Finally ditching my pair of 4850's..

Well the PC Magazine article says 5% gain in games... Maybe they mean the FPS gain average for the games they tested - maybe using other games would gain more FPS...

PCI Express 2.1 has no performance advantage over 2.0. It is just tweaked a little, but not speed-wise. From WikiPedia: --- PCI Express 2.1 supports a large proportion of the management, support, and troubleshooting systems planned to be fully implemented in PCI Express 3.0. However, the speed...

    A few issues when registering...

It seems the forum blocks many more emails that it is supposed to. It is supposed to block GMail, HotMail and Yahoo, but I tried registering with a @mail.orbitel.bg email address (I am in Bulgaria) and it said the email is blocked/banned. If it blocks all emails with "mail" in them, then this...

Replacing video card in old system, I think it will meet my needs...

Hello, riblet! This is socket 939, right? I have the same platform, but with Opteron 180 with no overclock (running at the default 2.4 GHZ). Could you please run a few 3DMark 06 tests for me? Test in 3 resolutions - the default (1280x1024), low (1024x768) and high (1680x1050) and tell me the...

Are these 3DMark scores bad? How bad?

Hmm, samuelmorris, does that mean the problem is the slow CPU and not the PCI Express 1.0 8x speed? Or is it a combination of both? Sorry, English is not my mother tongue - can you please tell me what you mean by "all the way up to about 15,000"? Do you mean that if a better CPU is used with...

Are these 3DMark scores bad? How bad?

My main system is very old, and has DDR1 memory, slow CPU, and PCI Express 1.0. More specifically: Socket 939 AMD, AMD Opteron 2.4GHZ Dual-core, 4GB DDRAM, ATI HD4870 1GB by Gigabyte. No overclock. Here are my 3DMark scores, can you please tell me if they are low, and if so, by how much...

Worth getting eyefinity with two monitors or can I even use it?

Yeah, but some are done with older, non-EyeFinity cards, or non-ATI (NVidia). I have done this myself with my HD4870 under WinXP. But, I would like a dual-mon video with HD68xx/69xx under Windows 7 instead...

Worth getting eyefinity with two monitors or can I even use it?

Guys, I want to use two monitors for gaming, mainly RTS - like Age of Empires III, War/StarCraft III/II, Command and Conquer 3. I think it will work well for RTS games! I asked AMD support about 2 monitors EyeFinity and they said it will work. Can some one of you guys take some screenshots...
