    LED backlight flicker

    Totally flicker free, thanks 10e!

    LED backlight flicker

Yes, it "looks" like 60Hz to me, but I wrote that to simply illustrate what I mean. Yes, the LEDs operate at a fixed frequency of 450Hz (or 430Hz I think), but what you actually see in the photos are ON (white lines) and OFF intervals generated by the PWM algorithm. The lower the brightness, the...

    Dell U2412M

Yes, after playing a bit with this workaround, there are too much downsides - it's ok for web and text work, but graphics and movies look bad. About the SA850 - yeah, you could grow very old till the time I get it, I live in Croatia, and it's nowhere in sight :P

Midrange 24" IPS for digital Design work (Dell u2412m, HPZR24, HP2440w)?

All of the above have LG panels inside, and therefore the same 3H AG coating. A friend of mine has zr30w and the coating seems a little lighter than on u2412, but I should put them side by side to be sure. LED flicker doesn't have to be visible on every screen, 10e says its not visible on...

    LED backlight flicker

@poindexter - the photos were taken with 1/25 shutter. Edited the post.

    Dell U2412M

@poindexter - tried setting brightness to 100% and lowering RGB values to about 60, and this is a very good workaround for the flicker, though I don't know what it does to colors cause I don't have a calibrator. The only problem is that the blb is getting obvious at this brightness point - lower...

    LED backlight flicker

@10e could you post photos as well, just for the fun of it? Though I must say I'm convinced about SA850 when it's coming from you. @John721 - LED flickering is not distracting when watching movies or playing games, but when reading text or working with graphics it can be very distracting...

Samsung SA850 on PLS - the first review has been published (preproduction unit)

Straying off topic here, but could be my camera, it's pretty old and laggy. Or if you're on 110V mains?

    LED backlight flicker

Posted this in Samsung SA850 thread, but I'd like to see some comparison with other LED backlit monitors, so here are the pics of my Dell U2412M at various brightness settings - you can clearly see the on and off states of LEDs, which at 35% looks like the monitor has a refresh rate of around...

Samsung SA850 on PLS - the first review has been published (preproduction unit)

@Mr.Pixel, it's 35, I named it wrong. I put these here because I'd like to see a comparison with SA850, and preferrably 24". And I didn't know there's a different u2412 model? Mine says u2412M, not HM. Is there a difference?

Samsung SA850 on PLS - the first review has been published (preproduction unit)

Little something to get things going: here are the photos of my Dell u2412, practically did exactly as proposed by that method. No photo editing, only cropped and put side by side. Here are full size photos: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2564500/Pics/100.JPG...

Samsung SA850 on PLS - the first review has been published (preproduction unit)

Could somebody post a comment on LED flicker on SA850, and possibly do a test Mr.Pixel was proposing? http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1037650431&postcount=201 I'm using a Dell u2412 for web design and lots of text and the flicker at 30% brightness is very distracting. From what I read, the...

Midrange 24" IPS for digital Design work (Dell u2412m, HPZR24, HP2440w)?

@bbordwell Well frankly it's good that you don't, means you got yourself a great lcd for peanuts, but I just can't see how that's possible. In a few words, I was trying to say that if you are pro or a "semi-pro", and seeing things on a computer screen is what you do for a living, there is a big...

Midrange 24" IPS for digital Design work (Dell u2412m, HPZR24, HP2440w)?

According to what kind of work you want to do with these monitors, I have bad news for you. My comment will sound out of place for some, but if you want to work, and I mean really WORK on your pc, then Dell 2412 is simply not good enough. (I won't judge other monitors because I only read about...

    Dell U2412M

Is there any way of reducing the flicker on this monitor? I just bought 2412 few days ago, could live with the AG coating, but after the first 4-hour work session I felt my eyes are tired and realized that the flicker is so distracting and tiring. (I downloaded the ICC profile from TFT...
