PC will be mainly for "work", so its mainly "heavy apps" and occasional gaming. Hence why im leaning towards quad core CPU. Im not interested in overclocking just something thats stable and runs relatively cool. Motherboard will likely be one of the Gigabyte EP45, one with proper (heatpipe)...
I think ill go for quad. One more thing; Are all the current quad cores available 2x dual core quads e.g. not "true" quad? Also how about the heat on quad cores CPU vs dual core? What are the typical min/max temperatures on Q6600 and equivalent quad core processors?
Heres a review of the...
My current setup is using Abit NF7-S & AMD 2600+, which is anchient. For a new system im currently leaning towards Gigabyte EP45 series, ones that have proper cooling (heatpipe).
Currently processors im thinking about are E8500, Q6600 (and possibly Q6700). From looking at some benchmark charts at Tomshardware.com, it seems that for applications (for the most part) Quad core processor would be the best option, then again the games tested seem to prefer Duo. Is this...
I replaced my NF7-S boards NB cooler, and on another Abit board, years ago using the same Zalman (ZM-NB47J) heatsink. Works like a charm. I wouldnt use the heatsink without the fan, especially since the replacement isnt very expensive or hard to install.
Yea the stock HSF will burn you, i tested it myself. :o
Anyways, i was hoping that the Noctua NC-U6 would fit but in their website they specifically list this motherboard as incompatible, shame really. The cooler looked quite effective. Anyways, HR-05 one seems really nice too and is bit...
Nice, thanks! Exactly what i was looking for. I checked the Thermalright HR-05/IFX earlier but i was not sure about the mounting. I actually took apart the stock northbridge cooler because i wanted to see how/what it is cooling. I thought because it was longer than what ive had to deal with that...
I thought about doing that but i doubt it will make enough difference. Simply the heatsink is too small and which is why they have changed it in rev. 1.1 with different one. The heatsink is doing what it can, its already too hot to touch.
So if im going to strip it apart, i might as well put...
Im looking for help finding a suitable replacement for the utterly useless northbridge "cooler" that Gigabyte has mounted on the rev 1.0 motherboards.I was able to mount 80mm fan next to the northbridge so the temperature is around 80C on idle, which is still too much. At least i have not found...
I probably spent months looking for a proper cooler and found one. Originally the one i wanted was Cooljag Falcon 92-Al or Cooljag Falcon 92-Cu but i couldnt find them anywhere. However the Nexus XiR-2300 and Nexus XiR-3500 are identical to the Cooljag ones.
I personally consider some "backlight bleed" normal, usually faintly visible in the corners. However i had HP LP2065 which had so bad backlight bleed problem that most of the left side was completely gray instead of "black". This would show up clearly on anything black or dark, it didnt need to...
Exactly.
We want LEDs!
When do we want it?
NOW!
Confusion, disinformation and outright lying seems to be the main strategy in the LCD business today. Someone needs to get sued and fast, before they come up with more of these imaginery "upgrades" just to give an excuse to keep the prices...
Keep in mind the HP is 8 ms grey-to-grey.
I just ordered the HP today. The panel is good but not perfect. Someone in prad.de forums said that comparing to the 2007FP, HP is actually faster or has less visible ghosting. Also the brightness falls short from the specs but is still enough.
I...
