Good call! Fiddled with the shroud last night when the RPMs were high, and sure enough the buzz could be removed. I couldn't seem to shift it in a way that kept it silenced though. So I'll actually take the card out of the PC today and try to adjust it appropriately.
Thanks for the advice...
About a month ago my Sapphire Dirt 3 HD 6950, started to buzz badly above 55% fan speed. I've had to tone down my over clock to allow for lower fan speeds, and still have temperatures higher then I'd like. Now I may go back to stock speeds and run factory fan speeds.
I don't know whether to RMA...
Was considering the D14, but ordered a HR-02 Macho ($50) last night instead because of the $25 savings for comparable performance.
Now this morning I see with Newegg's black November code, the D14 can now be had for $60. Is the heatsink that much better, does this price justify ordering, and...
I've been trying to hold out and find an amazing deal on an unlock able 2GB HD6950 or 560ti open box. No luck though, so I may order a brand new Sapphire card today.
It appears all new Dirt 3 Edition cards are now unlocking with 100% rate using the bios switch. So I'm considering saving the...
From my experience, I would recommend the Func 1030. For me it had the perfect dimensions, shape, price, 2 surfaces, and was easily washable in sink or dishwasher.
I also considered the Ratpad, but with the size of it, level of my mouse surface, and the bevel on the pad, it just appeared it...
I picked up an i5 2500k and GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 from micro center this weekend. I wasn't sure about my mobo and memory choice, and so they told me if I change my mind, I can exchange towards different hardware within 30 days.
Everything is up and running nicely, no overclock yet, but definitely...
I already know generally what each item is worth, and am not looking for specific prices. Just curious what others, think would be most profitable, bundled or individual sales. Its only ~$150 worth of stuff, so I really probably shouldn't be concerned about small differences in profit. I'm not...
I just upgraded my PC and am looking to sell what I've replaced. I don't have access to the for sale section of these forums or others that I'd like to post on. So it looks like I will be using ebay, and I'm unsure whether to sell everything bundled or individually.
Here is what I'll be...
Picked up a new mobo/cpu/ram combo today from Micro Center. Was just going to use the i5's factory HSF for a little, but then it crossed my mind, will my old socket 775 Freezer 7 Pro work? I know the Rev 2 is 1156 compatible, which I guess also means 1155, but what about the original? If it does...
That's a relief. I'll probably just stick with the memory I have then, for convenience sake.
Looking into Micro Center's return policy. If I can, I'd like to order better ram at a cheaper price, use what I have now for a few days, and then return or exchange.
Picked up the GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3, i5 2500k, and 8 GB of Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3-1333.
I purchased that type of memory based on iconiK's reply. Just got home, and read that the memory has no headroom for overclocking though, and it appears like i really need 1600 ram.
Before opening the...
Heading out shortly to Micro Center for the i5 2500k + $40 off mobo deal. Getting a GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 with the CPU, appears to be the cheapest yet good overclocking board.
I need to decide on memory, what would you recommend? I plan to overclock to around 4.5ghz, maybe beyond later on. Looking...
Right now, its really coming down to two options:
1.) 1 GB Sapphire HD 6870 at $150, then get a 2nd for CF upon CPU/Mobo/Ram purchase or resell and get something better.
2.) 2 GB HIS IceQ Turbo HD 6950 at $250. From what I've heard, it may be bottle necked on my Q6600.I might not get all I...
