    Received the el-cheapo adapter I got on eBay today... and the problem is gone! :D Must've been some weird incompatibility between my ASUS mobo and the other adapter. Anyway... problem solved!

    I'm using a DualShock 2 gamepad hooked up via an USB adapter. I got it last year and it's been working perfectly on multiple machines. But on my new Sandy Bridge build, the gamepad suffers from intermittent lockups, in both Windows and Linux on all USB ports! They seem to be more likely to occur...

    Hooked it up, works well (although I had to physically alter the connectors). Fan speed is now controlled by the motherboard. What a stupid regression by ASUS though. :mad:
