Received the el-cheapo adapter I got on eBay today... and the problem is gone! :D Must've been some weird incompatibility between my ASUS mobo and the other adapter.

I'm using a DualShock 2 gamepad hooked up via an USB adapter. I got it last year and it's been working perfectly on multiple machines. But on my new Sandy Bridge build, the gamepad suffers from intermittent lockups, in both Windows and Linux on all USB ports! They seem to be more likely to occur...
Bumping this thread up since the problem still hasn't been resolved. I've been in direct contact with ASUS support without getting any further.
Since Gary is no longer active on the forum, I believe Raja@ASUS is the new go-to person.
Hooked it up, works well (although I had to physically alter the connectors). Fan speed is now controlled by the motherboard. What a stupid regression by ASUS though. :mad:

I got myself a Nanoxia PWMX fan adapter which transforms PWM signals to plain DC control (since none of the ASUS P8P67 boards seem to support DC control of the CPU fan). I also got myself three of these extension cables to reach in my case...
