yeah, my 360 doesn't have hdmi. that would solve all of my "problems".
it's not imperative to connect both my laptop and desktop using my tv as the monitor, but would be convenient for the extra space of both hard drives and using my desktop hard drive for movies while my laptop is limited...
basically, i'm looking to send my laptop diplay (vga out), desktop display (vga and dvi out), along with my xbox 360 (vga out) to my samsung LN46A550.
i'm currently only connecting the 360 to the tv's vga and don't want the hassle of unplugging and switching each time i want to view my...
wow, crazy to see a thread of mine (with no original replies) come back from the dead three months later.
i play CoD4, Gears, UT3, Fear, etc. with no problems.
i would still like to run some benchmarks with turbocache disabled to see if it performs better.
this is what i got for $699 from dell in late december:
Dell Vostro 1500
1 Intel Core; 2 Duo T5270 (1.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
1 15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA LCD Display (matte finish)
1 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, 2 DIMM
1 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
1 120GB 5400RPM...
well, it's a 20 pin dvi connection, similar to dvi-i, however, the manual lists it as dvi-hdcp.
i don't know if that means it's digital only or analog too. if it's digital only, i guess my only option is a vga switch box, but those are more than i'm comfortable spending, plus i don't know if...
i'm not understanding why this is the case. if it takes a dvi signal and changes it to vga, why wouldn't it work in the opposite way? so long as it's analog on both ends, which vga and dvi-i are, there shouldn't be a problem. please explain.
obviously vga sends an analog signal, and you guys are referencing dvi as digital only.
however, both my tv and the adapter above are dvi-i. dvi-i accepts both digital and analog signals.
so i am trying to go from an analog vga out (computer) to analog dvi-i on my tv, but it's not working.
i trust monoprice for cables and adapters. their prices are great, low shipping costs and fast shipping, too. from CA to NY it took 3-4 days.
i'll be asking for an RMA on a VGA-DVI-I adapter i bought last week so that will hopefully go smoothly too.
pretty much what the title says.
i want to connect my dell vostro 1500 (nvidia 8600GT) to my HDTV (westinghouse lvm-42w2).
my laptop only has a vga output and the vga on my tv is being used by my xbox 360. the only analog inputs available on my tv are dvi-i and component. i bought this from...
i want to take my vga out from my laptop and hook up to my dvi-i on my tv. dvi-i is both analog and digital signals. this will work for me.
your situation is different. you want to go from analog vga and end at digital hdmi. if it can possibly be done, you're looking at spending quite a...
at what point do people stop buying into new technology altogether?
let's say that article is accurate, and that 4000p is available in 7 years. for someone buying a new 1080p tv today, which is the current cream-of-the-crop, to see it become obsolete well before it's physical life span is...
