the SATA (or SATA2) interface allows for a higher transfer rate... but no desktop hard drives get near the current max for PATA anyway. It has smaller cables, and I prefer the power cable as well (which i why i bought a SATA DVDRW :D)
there is only so fast (i think) you can make the current arch of CPUs without changing something HUGE, Moore's law only states that the number of transistors doubles - these statements combined would suggest that extra cores is what is going to happen, and intel/amd are doing this (intel...
I was pretty damn sure that quad cores would run on AM2, I thought AMD themselves said this.

is WILL run on AM2 (phew!)
I loved this game (and dk1 ofc) but when playing multiplayer eventually it starts to "go back in time" (you'll know what I mean if you've seen it)... it's very depressing as it's an awesome game :(
(sorry i can't actually help :))
I have the msi k9n sli platinum, I know its SLI but I'm gonna guess that everything is the same anyway.
I was able to get the FSB(HTT, you know) up to 270, after 2 rounds of small FFT prime testing it failed but I that that was not enough CPU voltage. Above 274ish it wouldn't POST.
It has...
might I ask what was wrong with the msi k9n? I have an msi k9n sli platinum and it works very well for me. Can get FSB up to over 270 before problems - what was your deal with it?
hmmm I just disabled my pagefile... and it still gives me the message
and I still get the message when I am running at stock speeds :x Anyone know exactly what "paging" means in this context?
anyone know what this message means? Yesterday I was able to do the large FTT scan for over 10 hours with no paging, but today every scan has the paging message.
Anyone have any idea what this means?
I've think I've got a pretty stable overclock and am testing it with ORTHOS Beta (the duel core version), however, whenever I do Blend or in-place FFTs a big red PAGING thing comes up on the form, comes on for one second, turns on for one second, then comes back on and so on. What does this mean...
well you have a better chance than me, my stepup runs out in 6 days :(
I might stepup to the 7950GX2 (if I can't get the 8800GTX ofc), then sell it (without using it, so as new) and use a crappy card until the 8800GTX comes out
decisions!
