Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
yes of couse the tech has improved a lot and you can get a lot more. But PC gaming exists in a bubble. It drives the high end pc industry, so its necessary. Of course you can point to the many reasons pc is superior, but for a large class of games (excluding fps/simulation), you can get arguably...
no thanks, its crazy how expensive PC gaming is that a $500 gpu is considered a good deal. As long as gamers continue to happily pay $3k for marginal improvements in graphics, companies will continue to fleece us.
I don't know about the 1m loc figure, but here are the realities of swdev in all big tech companies -
- most of them got rid of testers long before the arrival of our Lord the LLM. dedicated testers were simply too expensive
- companies switched to rapid release schedules, fixing in production...
I'm upgrading my pc after years and will be moving to Zen 3 + ddr4. Its not for gaming and there's no reason this won't last another 5 years easily. No one needs faster a pc.
just a point of reference - my company has offices worldwide incl big ones in China. even before Covid we noticed a trend where people didn't want to move here from China like they would've before. They come for visits and then realize that life back home is better for them, there is no reason...
open weight Chinese models vs proprietary openai + no more dependence on cuda/ripoff Nvidia + ram price fixing = the way forward for llm's and making AI available to all
because only that country has malware right?
maybe stop reading the press that desperately wants to portray West=good China=evil and actually look at the reality
what does this mean - most sites don't work and no one really cares, its been normalized.
and the sites don't work now because the VPN IP ranges are known. but even before then it has been compromised for those who really care to know.
this isn't a privacy violation unless it was a secure form and even in that case it mostly isn't if it was publicly accessible info.
eg most forums inc this one are indexed in real time. so is every website. if you added an entry to a form that led to some database being updated that's cross...
so lets just talk about real issues users face and not some idealized world.
most users have very little privacy. if you use any elecronic products (never mind big tech), go shopping in stores, use credit cards, banks or anything else in modern life. there's a profile on you in multiple servers...
there are plenty of great AI uses I can think of - eg classifying browser tabs into categories, intelligent organization, duplicate detection (eg web pages which just have a link to the actual story on another site), summarizing what your browsing trends have been, suggesting new sites etc. all...
Brave isn't any better, a simple search will show you all kinds of issues.
Why don't people understand that Mozilla/Firefox is the LAST alternative to complete domination by Google/Chrome/Blink. Actually that ship already sailed years ago with the web now optimized for Blink/V8.
Then Mozilla...
This is quite overblown. Not trying to defend Mozilla here, they lost the plot a long time ago, but this new direction is not as bad as its being reported with all the doom and gloom.
the AI stuff will be explicitly able to be disabled, unlike such features in many other products. and Firefox...
I gave up PC gaming a while ago due to the costs of pc hardware. I prefer sp games anyway. bought a used ps3 and looked for used physical games as well as sales on PSN. It means I'm not playing the latest shooters etc but doesn't feel like I'm missing out on anything. there's a lifetime worth of...
