I don't have a bitter taste in my mouth. I am convinced my mobo has problems. I can't get a replacement from HP and I bid on one on ebay but it went for $156. For that price, I can buy a new mobo and a better cpu. I am also ready for silence. I use mine as an htpc and even with a fanless...

The saga continues.... I have been happy since getting the 3450 working. Things were beautiful and the last update for the bluray/hdd player took the stutter out of Batman Begins. I reinstalled the stock psu recently to see if it was quieter than the sparkle psu and now I can't get the video...

I have the sapphire 3450 in mine and I am pretty happy with it. I have had far less problems with it than my 8600gt which melted down eventually. You can see the pictures somewhere in this thread. I couldn't get the 3450 to work with the dvi and a dvi/hdmi cable but it works great with a...

You ought to be able to order one from HP. They list complete part numbers for their computers. Find a Slimline that already has one in it and look up the part number and give HP a call. Seems like that ought to work.

While I was in between video cards I thought I would see if hddvd's and blurays would play with the onboard video. Hddvd's did just fine, but blurays played about reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaalllllyyyyyy slow and choppy.

I reinstalled the 3450 with the dvi/vga adapter and everything is ok. I am not sure what was different, but everything is working. I had problems at first with the 8600gt too, that just "went away" without any logical explanation. So I guess I will get on and ride for as far as it takes me.

I have a nagging feeling that that maybe the case. Sometimes dealing with refurb stuff works out fine and sometimes it doesn't.

The saga continues. I decided to try a Sapphire 3450. I switched the bios video settings, removed the nvidia drivers, shut down, installed the 3450 and turned the computer on. Installed the latest ati drivers and reboot. Computer took 20 minutes to shutdown and another 20 to start back up...

I have had mine on the side and had no issues with disks reading. I don't do much in the way of burning so I can't speak for that, but the standard orientation for a CD/DVD is sideways although from what I have read before they can be vertical or horizontal with out issues.

I checked out Galaxy's website and they said that if the thermal paste had been removed then the warranty was void, so I am thinking that I am out of luck there. I replaced theirs with arctic silver just because I had some and I figured it would help out. I couldn't even touch the back of my...

Archaea - The fan is melted, the sticker is melted and the plastic is too. The warranty void if removed sticker on the bottom side is black. There is a Vista View TV tuner right next to it that seems to be doing fine. The computer is on a shelf in an open entertainment center and I did not...
