Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
This is strange as I have never ever had to clear CMOS after a failed overclock.
If the computer doesn't pass Post, all I have to do is press power for a couple of seconds to have the options to either use default settings (F1) or change the Bios settings (F2).
Eva2000, are you there? lol ;)
Are you sure it's not the opposite?
As ratios actually "divide" FSB to give the memory speed, don't they?
Say you have a FSB of 400MHz, using a 5:6 divider will give a memory speed of 400/(5:6) = 480 which gives DDR2 960MHz.
Is that not the way it works? Maybe...
Yes, as you say, the memory will run slower at 1:1 than 5:6, and put less load on the chipset. Still I didn't manage to post with another divider than 5:6, whatever the FSB.
For instance, I have put the FSB down to 400MHz, timings loosened to 5-5-5-15 and 1T, but that didn't work.
So that...
OK, I have now tried 1:1 and 1T, but it doesn't work.
It seems like Xbit Labs are correct, and that only 5:6 and 5:8 can be used.
I have successfully used 5:6, but haven't tried 5:8.
So, at the current state of things, 1T isn't an interesting option with my configuration. I'd rather use...
Indeed, the goal was to get the highest performance possible.
Because of the limited choices available in dividers to use 1T on the P5K Deluxe.
Cyant, thanks for posting your results. As you pointed out, the FSB is higher when I'm running at 1200MHz and 2T. However, I could not use the FSB...
Hi Guys.
First, thanks to BillParish for the link. It states that the divider should be 5:6 or 5:8.
I went for 5:6 which allowed me to be stable 1T.
I have upped the Vdimm to 2.35V for the tests. I'll see if I can lower that.
So, here are the settings:
FSB: 425
Multi: 8x (3.4GHz)
Memory...
Hi folks,
Would you guys have any tips as to how to get the memory to run at 1T on a P5K Deluxe?
I have been trying to get my setup (G.Skill 6400 HZ's + P5K Deluxe) to run at 1T command rate without any success.
Does 1T need much more volts than 2T?
For reference, I'm using 2.25V to...
So, to summarise, no your memory should not see its life shortened as you have just "tweaked" it.
You should still make sure that the case has good airflow.
Hi Arnge.
This is not technically an overclock; you have just tightened the timings.
As for the memory's lifespan, it depends how much voltage you have put.
I guess you didn't have to push the Vdimm too much to reduce timings without increasing frequency. In any case, it is always good to keep...
@ Cyant: The big difference is that you are running at 1T.
I have tried 1T in the past but could never post. I shall try again and will compare results.
Edit: I've tried again to use 1T, but couldn't post.
I have used a FSB of 425 1:1 and even 5-5-5-18 wouldn't work.
The 1T option was...
That's probably Vdroop you are experiencing.
Often, you don't get the voltage you have set in the BIOS when you get in windows.
Additionally, under load some (anyone can confirm if that's for certain chipsets only?) motherboards will not be able to sustain the voltage.
Hi All,
I just wanted to share my experience with the G.Skill PC6400 HZ's.
I'm using them on a P5K Deluxe WiFi and a E3642, and I'm really impressed what this RAM can do.
They are rated to work at 800MHz and 4-4-4-12 timings with 2.1V.
I have managed to get them to 1000MHz with 4-4-4-10 and...
