Experiences with Striker Extreme Bios 0701 and 0802

My 0802 has been fine. No more SLI/sound problems (with the games I play anyway) with the X-Fi. My Mushkin RAM has not crashed thus far at it's 1066 MHz rated speed (I had a few crashes with 0701 when RAM was running at it's rated 1066 MHz and 2.2 voltage). My preliminary testing also...

    ASUS Striker Extreme Revisited

Just flashed to 0802 using my USB drive. Went fine. SLI and sound issue does seem to be fixed!

    NVIDIA nForce 680i Solutions

I have the Audigy 2 ZS in my rig right now, and yes the snap-crackle-pop is there, but better than it was with the onboard sound.

    [H] Asus Striker Review

I can tell you my experiences with the Stacker 830 and fans. I have 8 fans as well, having purchased an extra HDD enclosure. Two front HDD: both blowing in Top: blowing out Rear: blowing out Side fans: here is where it was getting interesting. If you were looking at the case from the side...

That's correct. I hadn't read anything from Asus yet so I contacted them. Their response: We are aware of the issue and are fixing the problem as we speak. ETA unknown. Asus Support Team.

    ASUS Striker Extreme Revisited

Good suggestion. Moving to x6 seems to have lessened the amount of crackling. Going down to x4 did not make a difference. I'll keep playing with it and see what happens.

    ASUS Striker Extreme Revisited

0701 actually seems to give me a few EXTRA pops and crackles with SLI and the Audigy 2 ZS.

    ASUS Striker Extreme Revisited

Are you running 8800s in SLI? GTX? Which specific games have you tried? F.E.A.R. multiplayer has been crackling on me with the onboard sound, but after playing a few hours I can say it is much better after installing my old Audigy 2 ZS. I tried both Quake 4 and Doom3 last night and they both...

    ASUS Striker Extreme Revisited

There is a new BIOS, 0701, on both the ftp and website now. I'm going to give it a try. List of fixes: Striker Extreme Release BIOS 0701 1. Fixed NB Core voltage setting error when CMOS fail 2. Enable support for Conroe 1333MHz processor 3. Fixed VID incorrect after OC to 1201Mhz(FSB)...

    [H] Asus Striker Review

There was a post over on the ASUS forums about the old Audigy 2 ZS cards working with SLI enabled. I tried my old card that I had lying around, but still no joy. I've seen a few people mention that their sound/SLI problems disappear with other non-Creative cards like the new Razer Barracuda...

    [H] Asus Striker Review

I have the same snap, crackle and pop (Rice Krispies?) sound effect with SLI in games unfortunately. Drives me nuts. I was hoping 0505 BIOS would help but no dice there. Only other issue is the Mushkin PC8500 which I can't get anywhere near 1066 for the life of me. Overall the Striker has been...

    [H] Asus Striker Review

I am going to be building almost the identical system over the next week (with Raptors being the difference), with a 3007WFP and the PC Power & Cooling 1KW PSU. We'll have to compare notes once I get this beast up and running.
