Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
My 0802 has been fine.
No more SLI/sound problems (with the games I play anyway) with the X-Fi.
My Mushkin RAM has not crashed thus far at it's 1066 MHz rated speed (I had a few crashes with 0701 when RAM was running at it's rated 1066 MHz and 2.2 voltage).
My preliminary testing also...
I can tell you my experiences with the Stacker 830 and fans. I have 8 fans as well, having purchased an extra HDD enclosure.
Two front HDD: both blowing in
Top: blowing out
Rear: blowing out
Side fans: here is where it was getting interesting. If you were looking at the case from the side...
That's correct. I hadn't read anything from Asus yet so I contacted them. Their response:
We are aware of the issue and are fixing the problem as we speak. ETA unknown.
Asus Support Team.
Good suggestion.
Moving to x6 seems to have lessened the amount of crackling.
Going down to x4 did not make a difference.
I'll keep playing with it and see what happens.
Are you running 8800s in SLI? GTX?
Which specific games have you tried?
F.E.A.R. multiplayer has been crackling on me with the onboard sound, but after playing a few hours I can say it is much better after installing my old Audigy 2 ZS.
I tried both Quake 4 and Doom3 last night and they both...
There is a new BIOS, 0701, on both the ftp and website now. I'm going to give it a try.
List of fixes:
Striker Extreme Release BIOS 0701
1. Fixed NB Core voltage setting error when CMOS fail
2. Enable support for Conroe 1333MHz processor
3. Fixed VID incorrect after OC to 1201Mhz(FSB)...
There was a post over on the ASUS forums about the old Audigy 2 ZS cards working with SLI enabled. I tried my old card that I had lying around, but still no joy.
I've seen a few people mention that their sound/SLI problems disappear with other non-Creative cards like the new Razer Barracuda...
I have the same snap, crackle and pop (Rice Krispies?) sound effect with SLI in games unfortunately. Drives me nuts. I was hoping 0505 BIOS would help but no dice there.
Only other issue is the Mushkin PC8500 which I can't get anywhere near 1066 for the life of me.
Overall the Striker has been...
I am going to be building almost the identical system over the next week (with Raptors being the difference), with a 3007WFP and the PC Power & Cooling 1KW PSU.
We'll have to compare notes once I get this beast up and running.
