    Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, Ultra 7 265K and Ultra 5 245K Review Roundup

Yep, I remember buying the i7 920 with triple channel mem back in the day. IIRC that was the first time they moved the IMC on die (Athlon 64 already had it on die) and have now moved it off die again.

    Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, Ultra 7 265K and Ultra 5 245K Review Roundup

So it's slower in gaming than normal Zen 5 let alone the X3D parts. IMC going off die sure hit them hard, and AMD manages to be ahead of them in gaming even with their archaic IMC. Disappointing, I was hoping for a good release with price cuts from both camps. Instead, 9950X goes off stock...

Windows Bug with Zen 4/5 (HWUB)

Wendell's video where he starts talking about BIOS settings from 32:00 (I think prefetcher settings were around 32:30)

Windows Bug with Zen 4/5 (HWUB)

The admin thing is separate from the performance enhancements from 24H2. There are also some performance to be had from BIOS tweaks like Wendell showed with regard to force enabling prefetchers for Zen 5 so there are gains to be had from BIOS + admin + 24H2

Intel CPU failure rate is lower than AMD Ryzen failures — system builder releases failure rate data

I never had one either, except a 3570k I killed when trying to delid it. There were also rumours about higher end FX chips degrading in the past, a pentium 1.13ghz that never made it past review stage, and certain pentium 4 chips degrading faster than what's acceptable. I might have missed a...

Intel CPU failure rate is lower than AMD Ryzen failures — system builder releases failure rate data

Those intel 13th gen field failure rates when compared with 14th gen shows the extent to which they're failing and they even state that most issues are starting to pop up after 6 months or so. Do the same graph a year later and see those 13th gen failures rise way higher, microcode or not...

[DEAD] Newegg: Seasonic Syncro Q704 Case $72 (w/FS)

I agree, the stock GT's are pretty damn good, I think it's an improved version of the OG GT's? I used this case for a build when they were up on sale for similar price a couple of years ago and the noise profile was so much better than the ML120's I had for another build at the time. If you...

Intel "Core Truths" calls out AMD rebranding of old CPU architectures

Well their mobile naming scheme legit sucks, but essentially the first 7 doesn't even denote latest generation, it just means year. So I suppose 23, 24 etc would work better but sound strange (Ryzen 3 23520U hmmm). Also, chips like the 7320U aren't exactly the same as their Zen 2 counterpart...

7 best GPUs of all time

I agree that the 7970 MSRP was too high at launch, they wanted some $ before nvidia's launch 3 months later. Also agree that 680 was on average around 7% faster with the margin shrinking at 1440p at launch. But I guess it's debatable as to whether 7970 and 680 were the respective flagships at...

7 best GPUs of all time

The fact that we're debating whether the 7970 should be in the list is interesting because, had most people known just how far ahead the GCN arch was over the GTX680 during launch would drastically change the sales ratio of those two products. Most reviewers just failed to see that, ignored the...

AMD market share in CPUs increasing

So you change your argument from "Ryzen 7 doesn't beat i5-13600k in ONE benchmark" to i5 evenly matches 7700X in some benchmarks and beats it in others because you got proven wrong on multiple arguments of yours. Price adjustments are so common in the industry that it has nothing to do with...

Platform costs are completely out of control.

Stay away from ASUS with a ten foot pole for AM5. They dropped the ball hard. Look at the $200 ASUS Prime vs Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX. The prime looks like a $50 board and performs like one too with CPU throttling, suboptimal timings even with EXPO, BIOS being borked causing issues with X3D chips...

AMD market share in CPUs increasing

You know this was AMD's roadmap all along right which they can't magically change gen on gen? CPU archs take a few years from design to actually being materialized. When they designed the CCD's, they built everything around it starting from laptops to EPYC's many years back. And the way the...

7 best GPUs of all time

Yeah it's kinda sad that even with 40% generational uplifts in recent years the IQ doesn't really change much. RT does little to nothing as well in most games. I think my last blown away moment was when I first ran Crysis and wanted a GPU upgrade. But it still pales in comparison to what I...
