Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I am designing my watercooling setup, and I have come to a bit of an impasse. The setup will include a dual opteron setup on a Tyan K8WE motherboard. I will eventually be upgrading to a dual nvidia 7800 setup.
Here is the situation: I have opted for the swiftech storm waterblock for both...
Huh? You need dual-link DVI for the 30" Apple Cinema Display. It WILL NOT WORK without it. Quality/performance has nothing to do with dual-link. Dual-link is simply the answer to the problem of not having enough bandwidth for the extremely high resolutions that the 30" ACD requires (or any...
Question: why are all the reviews maxxing out at 1600x1200? If this card is excelling at these resolutions, why aren't they cranking up the resolution to something higher? Apple cinema display 30" resolutions?
Your argument has a major fallacy. In programming multiple threads in a scientific model, synchorization doesn't have to happen in real-time. You apply the model, split the processing, and if one process ends up finishing before the other, it can simply wait for the other processes to catch up...
Are you overclocking? Are you looking to increase your internal RAID array? Are there any upgrades to the video requirements in the near future?
If you plan to keep your existing setup, I'd go with PC Power & Cooling 510. If you plan on increasing your power requirements significantly...
AMEN to what DougLite said. I am going with 4 core, but the reason behind that is that I run a database server and use workstation programs (Solidworks, Adobe creative suite), in addition to playing games. The way I see it, if I have to have the hardcore programs running on the darn server...
Here's my rig! 32,768 PowerPC 440 700Mhz Processors; 70.72 TFlops Computing power.
HAHA, I couldn't resist. BTW, this computer is called BlueGene/L DD2. It is owned by IBM. More info can be found here and here. :D
I understand that a fan shroud will decrease noise and decrease the amount of "dead space" from the center of the fan (as well as back pressure), but does anyone have any real numbers as to how much efficiency is increased by including a fan shroud? The application I am using it for is a black...
You probably won't need 1/2" tubing for only the CPU and chipset. The pump powers up when you power up the computer. The CPU won't overheat in the seconds it takes to get the water flowing. The CPU block will always be filled with water regardless of whether or not your computer is on...you...
Personal preference. Both are good. Both companies get consistently high marks in the reviews, so you can't really go wrong with either. Honestly, I think the Danger Den components look better than the Swiftech :D
Honestly, it depends on the speed of your hard drives. If they are 7200RPM drives, I wouldn't worry too much. Higher drive temps will lower the life of your drives, but if you are like me, that won't be an issue (because I buy new drives every year or so anyways). If you are really worried...
Just to clarify things here: almost all "kits" do not include a waterblock for the chipset. Some kits don't come with ANY waterblocks. Some kits come with BOTH.
With all that aside, I would suggest Danger Den (once again). Their kit doesn't include the chipset waterblock, but everything...
I was just wondering if it really is necessary? What kind of performance increases can you expect with a shroud (1" stand-off)? For example: what would perform better...a 2x 120 rad with a shroud or a 3x 120 rad without a shroud? Having a long and flat radiator vs a short and tall radiator...
