The highest I've seen my processor go is 54c.
Under a decent amount of load. Do you have any recommendations for a benchmark that could push my CPU for a better grip on what my load is?
I read up on it first, obviously.
I do have the direct heatpipe cooler, and from what I read you are supposed to apply the thermal paste to the heatsink instead of the processor, as to fill in the crevices made by the heatpipes.
I am using Arctic Cooling MX-2 thermal paste.
I also have...
I just built my phenom 2 system ,and see many people claiming to get ~30c on idle, where I tend to get high 30's on idle. I use the Xigmatek rifle cooler and think that I may have put too much thermal paste on it.
Would this cause such an increase in processor temps?
I will probably remove...
I put up my new build. Only thing still bugging me is whether or not it is a good idea to go with the 4890 over the 280. I can get the Sapphire toxic edition for about 250$ or the GTX 280 for about 250$.
In benchmarks they seem to trade blows, but I think the toxic version would pull ahead...
What's the difference between the 31$ xigmatek heatsink and the 40$ dark knight version?
And I am considering the 300/PSU combo now.
It does save a lot of dosh.
I was just looking at that motherboard. :P I do believe I like it.
After reading through some benchmarks, I am pretty impressed with the 940 so far. The hard drive/ram combo is noted.
The only thing I'm not sure if I agree with is the power supply. The antec 300 case may not fit my taste...
I'm sorry. I was COMPLETELY wrong. I replaced it with a 7900GS (huge difference I know, I'm kinda tired.)
Now, I don't know much about the phenom 2's and the AMD platform, but will that motherboard last through future releases?
Great deal on the 280, and the demo questions added.
I happen to have a sunbeam transformer, but am scared to build the new system into it seeing as the 9800GS I replaced my 7800GT with is only about 1.5" or less from the HD cage.
I see the Antec 900-2 having superior cooling capabilities...

That is an extremely comfortable chair.
Go to staples and take a seat in it, you'll fall in love.
I've been sitting in mine for something around 3...
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming mostly, I figure it to be the most taxing task I would do.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Around 1000$, prefer newegg, will go over for shipping.
3) Where do you live?
Northern Maryland...
I got a 24.6" Hannspree monitor this week out of suprise as a birthday present and am very satisfied with it.
Besides having some sensitive ports, the VGA (when connected to my laptop), looks odd. I don't really know how to explain it, but it almost seems wavy. When I put a solid color up it...
