I just bought the 27XI as well. I first bought the DELL S2740L but I returned it a few days later when I noticed a defect in the glass. It also did not help that it suffered from IPS glow in the corners. The glossy display did not bother me. My last monitor that I used for any length of time...

I just have my 27 inch monitor sitting on my desk. My eyes are making contact with near the top of the display when looking straight ahead. Should I place my monitor on a book or something (stand isn't adjustable) to get my eyes in the middle of the display? How high is yours off the desk?

I have the brightness high because it just flat out looks better that way to me. Colors are intense and vivid. That is lost to a great degree with the brightness down to the halfway point. If my blacks have to look like crap in the corners, so be it. Thanks to you and everyone else who replied.
