So what you're saying is that a bare gpu making no contact with the ek waterblock ran 45C. On top of that the gpu shut itself down after hitting out of speck temps? That's pretty cool, so no damage to the gpu and it functioned fine after reattaching the stock cooler?
Well, I hope you keep us updated. I'd love to wc my cards as well, but the investment is too prohibitive at the moment, at least for my main mining rig. I have a personal system that's wc'd but currently being rebuilt at the moment and unfortunately running into some issues, but that a whole...
As long as you have internet and power it shouldn't be a problem to keep you rig in the basement. I wouldn't recommend a closet just because your radiator will need to breath to keep the gpu's nice and cool.
That's a really nice open air case but if you have your rig setup for watercooling why...
I wish you luck since pretty much any card worth upgrading to ie. 7950, 7970, r9 280x are pretty much all sold out everywhere. That being said, I've read great things about nvidia's lineup lately. Really curious to see what you go with so please update :)
Looks like your planning on doing some mining. I know I'm not really answering your question but why water cooling? are they running too hot? too loud?
Watercooling will significantly improve both but it's going to be expensive for four cards.
Here's a thread about someone who watercooled 4...
Unless you plan on doing some serious modding, doesn't look like your original idea keeping everything in the case will work. Just doesn't have the rad space. Having said that, I'd still love to see you try :D
I wonder how powerful are these drones going to be? Imagine stong winds, blowing a bunch of them off course, bad gps during storms, other flying predators etc that will affect the delivery. Conceptually a great idea but as someone else mentioned so were the Segways...
I remember reading about a usb 1x pci-e riser but for the life of me I can't find it again. Obviously won't work for what you need but maybe there's usb 16x pci-e out there somewhere?
