Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Thanks for all the help. I'm going to set my voltage to the highest I'll accept, and then I'll see what the highest clock speed I can get is, and then I'll back it off like you suggested.
That should certainly save me some time and money.
I just tried 3.6ghz again to see if I found any more symptoms.
The fan on the PSU ramps up and up and then the screen goes black and the computer restarts, over about 4 minutes. The motherboard sets all the clock speeds to automatic, but...
Thanks for the responses.
I set my computer back to stock speeds and voltages, and prime95 has been running for 14 hours without any problems. I have version 25.5 of Prime95 and it can run 4 threads simultaneously without multiple instances, which is nice. I just found a 25.6 build on the...
Hey everyone. I'm running a nice 450W Corsair, but I fear that I am overloading it.
I have a watercooled setup.
There are
6 undervolted 120mm fans (yate loon),
a Q6600 (G0) overclocked from 2.4 to 3.6GHz at about 1.4V (power hungry monster? >:O <-roar)
an ATI x1900xt (should be eating...
In the event that someone would like to collect more possibly biased data:
G0, VID 1.2125
I'm at 3.6 GHZ (9*400) on water at
1.46875v bios
1.408 idle
1.344 load
I'm sorry to argue, but this is not true.
With a dedicated RAID card (aka "real" raid, instead of crappy on-board stuff that doesn't work, aka expensive), RAID 5 with (N+1) drives should run as fast as RAID 0 with N drives.
In english, a RAID5 with 5 drives should always be nearly as fast as a...
That's good to know, thanks. I'm not very knowledgeable about circuitry (yet) so I may aim for a less potentially-irreversible wiring for my fans. Intuition says this may not be possible though.
What I really need is a temperature sensor for the water that controls the three 120mm radiator fans. I'm fairly sure that it is a bad idea to just lower a temp sensor into my reservoir, I don't think any sensors are waterproof. Is there an existing solution for this? I may just settle on...
Thank you very much! I think I will stick with my much safer 3.6ghz.
I think that Vcore of 1.50 volts would be safe since the voltage droop is there specificially to combat overshooting. However, I'm not particularly crazy about pushing for an extra 5% at the risk of destroying my hardware, and...
I have my Q6600 G0 watercooled and it's running great at
3.6ghz
1.46875v bios/1.408v idle/1.344v load.
I am trying to raising it to 3.8ghz or higher, but it needs MUCH more voltage to be stable.
I am still unstable (prime 95 testing) at 3.8ghz 1.568/1.504/1.424v
I have my memory timings loose...
I'm pretty sure that a stable system should NEVER crash while torture testing. You only run it for 24 hours or so because after that you can assume the computer will continue to run without crashing after that.
I have the same board and was a little curious at first too. (still am about some. I think they are in there simply "because you can" not because of any huge performance gains)
I'm pretty sure you only need to up the FSB voltage if you want to run memory in a non 1:1 ratio (on the board it's...
From what I've read, the core sensor is where the most heat is, the cpu temp is in between the cores.
Here's a really well done and detailed guide with more information:

I have been incrementally increasing the vcore on my Q6600 to get 3.6ghz stable at the lowest possible voltage.
I have good watercooling, my temps are 64, 57, 57, 64 C (not lapped, maybe some other day). I just want a stable overclock, hopefully with temps under 65. After I lap I will tweak it...
