ZFS Performance - Is it where it should be?

here's some comparison tests on zfs raid array on 4 cheap ssd's with mirrored vdevs on i7-4770. it looks like 23% cpu for 64k and 20% cpu for 256k for reads. around 64 to 256k should be good. and 8k is terrible. performance looks pretty close between them. 256k block size: # time bonnie++...

ZFS Performance - Is it where it should be?

looks like you're cpu bound, see how bonnie is using like 99% cpu? bonnie isn't that efficient.... erk dunno where i got that from, maybe someone elses results :) oh i see, you should run with -f0 for fast mode, the per char is pointless. but you were 99% cpu at raidz2 with 12 disks...

ZFS CPU - Avaton C2750 or Pentium G3220

Well, I'm using an I7 as a file server with ssd's, and it's cpu bound and pci-e bound. But then I'm using infiniband.. I also use it as my Linux desktop.. And i7s don't really use more power at idle. And will give speed when i use it ;) If you want to upgrade to 10 gigabit ethernet down the...

ZFS CPU - Avaton C2750 or Pentium G3220

with 5 hard-disks and ssd the asrock you mentioned could be ok. but it's nice to be future proof :)

ZFS CPU - Avaton C2750 or Pentium G3220

i thought this motherboard looked interesting: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157486 i'd probably go with i3 over g3220 but you can always go g3220 and upgrade later.

Introducing the new AMD Catalyst Omega Driver @ [H]

it broke saints row 4 for me on r9 290 with 2560x1440 resolution. somehow it had shifted to being in a window and i pressed alt-enter, then whenever i start it it quickly goes back to desktop while still running, you click on it and get a snippet of sound then quickly goes back to desktop etc...

What is your Haswell idle temp?

wow how do you guys get so low? my haswell runs hotter than my ivy bridge, and both of them are running way hotter. although ambient is probably about 26c?

What is your Haswell idle temp?

i get around 80c at load, 30 to 40c at idle. i7-4770, and by at load i mean with all 8 cores active. it's quiet except for when compiling :/ and then fan seems to take about a minute to spin up real fast. but as long as you can not use too much cpu all the time it's not too bad.

linux raid 10 ssd onboard sata bandwidth

if anyone else is curious it looks like bandwidth limitations become apparent at 4 disks: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-dc-s3500-raid-performance,3613-5.html

linux raid 10 ssd onboard sata bandwidth

that's what i'm doing atm. but i upgraded from a 128gb ssd that died which makes me a little edgy. i figure that i'll stick the 250gb ssd into my other computer which currently has 120gb ssd. then do reinstall with 3x120gb ssd, and do uefi at the same time. i do realise that i could prob...

linux raid 10 ssd onboard sata bandwidth

so i can max out infiniband basically. i don't really /need/ to, but at the same time, raid 1 on two 120gb ssd's would only give me 120gb of storage, and raid 10 on 3 would give me 180gb which would be less borderline. i initially thought of having raid 10 on part and raid 5 on part. 3...

    ZFS with non-ECC / Checksums / Backups

to my mind, if memtest that comes with ubuntu's installer doesn't find errors in 6 hours you're probably fine. if it doesn't find errors in a couple of minutes you "may or may not be fine", but don't have blatant memory issues. if it finds straight away you're going to have massive issues, and...

linux raid 10 ssd onboard sata bandwidth

so i'm thinking of doing raid 10 on onboard sata ports on a b85 chipset board, it has 4x6gbps, and 2x3gbps ports. my current thinking is that i should be able to max out my 4x pci-e infiniband ddr connection port with just 3 120gb ssd's for reads at least. but i was reading there's bandwidth...

    Gigabyte GA-P67-UD3-B3 running 16x at 1x

so i've been having a problem with second card in this motherboard running at 1x, so i checked the motherboard specifications, and it said it could run second slot at 4x if not using 2nd or 3rd pci-e1 slot. i was using the 1st pci-e1 slot. so i try taking card out anyway, in case...
