    I've got a 9600gt currently and a 24" (1920x1200) display. It works fine, but I do have a q6600, 4gb ram, etc... Just to be honest I'd either pick up something really cheap for now or wait and upgrade the entire system at once.

    I've got a 9600gt and a dell 2408wfp so the 1:1 pixel ratio option should be in the options for the display; the display options on the actual display itself. Not all displays have this so keep that in mind.
