    Grab hold of a used good condition IBM Model M 1391401 "clicky" keyboard or its current equivalent and I think you would be really pleased with the feel and responsiveness of the keys

    I've heard good things about Cherry keyboards that use mechanical switches and they are rated at 25 to 50 million key presses depending on the models. From reviews the Steelkeys KB uses Cherry key switches.

    Computer won't Boot at all....Gigabyte new mobo

    I had that happen with several Gigabyte P965-DS3 motherboards. Power up and then shut down. The CPU fan may or may not turn a few times. Provided the CPU and power connectors are ok as well as fan connectors, the solution was to get into the BIOS and change the fan settings to PWM or Intel-QST...

    maybe it's your roommate who needs to adapt, earmuffs and eyeshades for christmas may do the trick LOL. No keyboard is going to be totally silent yet nice to use, your monitor is always going to radiate light and your speakers are going to emit sounds when you play games

    The old Keytronics keyboards AFAIK were membrane type and had a good key action without being clicky. I have a few of them and they are reliable. I went to the original MS Natural Pro kb and used it for a few years till I got an IBM clicky Model M recently which is better and more and tactile...

    Clicky keyboards

    All the Model M AFAIK has the buckling spring keys..hence clicky sounds, later ones made by Lexmark were a bit lighter in weight but still had the B spring keys, I think UNICOMP make B spring boards based on Model M but with 104 keys and USB support.

    I got an IBM Model M 1394101 keyboard today from a used PC store after reading a lot about their great quality and I am impressed with it. Only 101 keys, no Win or multi media stuff, it justs makes this great clicky sound with fantastic feedback. For a KB made in 1989 it is still working like new
