    Videocard under $160

I got a 280x that was only one month old off of Ebay for 160 shipped. I don't think you can beat that deal. It will play anything at 1080p, either on max or high, especially if you forego anti-aliasing.

    WTB - Voodoo5 5500

bump because I owned one of these in xmas 2000. I had bought an off-the-shelf HP computer with a celeron 700. I got interested in computers and realized I couldn't install an AGP card because this shitty computer didn't have the slot! That made the Geforce 2 impossible. The best PCI video...

    H.I.S. 7850 2GB card for sale

Hi, I just upgraded to a 280x and have this 7850 for sale. It comes with retail packaging. The card is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161406&cm_re=HIS_7850_2GB-_-14-161-406-_-Product It works. I tested an overclock on it (but didn't run it like this...

    Vid card under $200 @ Q6600 & Q9550 ?

I'll take 85 shipped for the 7850. It's a H.I.S. standard 2 GB version, but I know that it will OC to 1ghz on the core if you choose. I didn't run it at that all the time, but it will at least complete benchmarks at 1ghz. Full retail package, box and everything. *edit* looks like a...

    Vid card under $200 @ Q6600 & Q9550 ?

That's a good deal you got on that card. I just got a 2 month old 280x for 160 shipped on ebay. I was gonna offer to sell you my 7850 to upgrade your 4870 machine, but I guess that's not necessary now. :)

Just got a good deal on a 280x, PSU question

Yes they do! So far, it's running just fine. I think it's getting enough juice.

Just got a good deal on a 280x, PSU question

I guess I'll just try it and see what happens. Because of the hardware secrets test, I know that the Rocketfish PSU will shutdown before damaging anything, so I if I get reboots, black screens etc. when gaming, I'll know exactly what it is. The Rocketfish I got is sort of an anomaly in the...

Just got a good deal on a 280x, PSU question

I would be more comfortable with a single 24 amp 12 volt rail, for sure, but theoretically, this should work as long as I don't overclock. I mean, it can deliever all the power that the card is rated to use (250 between an 8 pin, a 6 pin, and the PCI-E slot).

Just got a good deal on a 280x, PSU question

I think it will work, but I'm pushing the limit. I guess I try it. The review of my PSU said that when they tried to pull more than 500 watts, the PSU just shutdown, it didn't damage anything. If I game on it and it shuts down, then I'll have my answer.

Just got a good deal on a 280x, PSU question

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Rocketfish-550-W-Power-Supply-Review/748 That's the hardware secrets review of my PSU. The video card model is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131533&cm_re=powercolor_280x-_-14-131-533-_-Product It's got a...

Just got a good deal on a 280x, PSU question

Hey, I have a 500 watt PSU with two 18 amp 12 volt rails. The PSU does deliver the rated voltage, according to hardware secrets, which is why I bought it. The two rails are split so that one goes to the motherboard through the regular ATX connection (for CPU and expansion slots), and the other...

Will TSX matter in the future?

EXCELLENT chip. I decided to try my ASRock motherboard's 4.2 ghz preset overclock out, and it set the cores to 4.2 and the cache to 3.9, with the voltage at 1.2 and 1.15 respectively, but fixed (override mode). I went back and enabled adaptive voltage, and it passed AIDA64 for 30 minutes with...

Will TSX matter in the future?

Heh, the enthusiast in me won in the end. I cancelled the 4771 and went with a same-priced 4770k from a seller on ebay. I just didn't feel right paying 300 dollars for a locked chip. Realistically, Vt-d and TSX probably won't matter to me, and if I can squeeze 4.2 out of it at stock voltages...

Will TSX matter in the future?

I ended up going with the 4771. It's the K clocks at default, and I just don't see much gain with overclocking this chip.., I've got TSX and VT=-D going forward,.., if that matters

Will TSX matter in the future?

There shouldn't be a any issue with running my ram at 1866 on a z87 chipset, even with a locked 4771, correct?
