Better yet check the option for notification when your core temperature hits 120C which is the throttling temp. It is in the nvidia display settings. That way it will notify you if it is throttling down.
I don't know what to say. So I will just say it: You Are The MAN!!! Problem solved. Thank you so much. I opened up the plate and there was literally a compact wall of dust blocking every path to the heatSink. So basically you could say the thing was running without a fan since no air could ever...
Ok, thank you guys, I think I will just RMA it. I got it around Dec 2004 or maybe Jan 2005 so I think it should still be possible to send it back (1 year warranty?).
Thank you all.
I will keep you guys posted, if anyone cares.
:(
Do you guys know if these cards have the feature where the fan speed is adjusted according to the application being run (2D vs 3D). If this is the case, maybe the card never switches to the full fan speed?
Just to test it out, I took the side panel off and placed a big window fan on the side and the idle dropped to 55C but when playing a game it still reaches 120C and throttles down.
Hi guys, there is something really wrong with this picture. 6800GT reaches the threshold temperature of 120C during gameplay (Black & White 2 @ 1600x1200) and throttles back down in speed to cool off. I noticed this when I turned on the option to notify me "when the temperature hits the...
I am using MSI k8n Neo2 Plat. and thermalright xp-90 with a panaflo fan. I pluged the fan into the cpu fan connector on the mobo, and yet the bios and the CoreCenter reports 0 rpm for the cpu fan speed? What is wrong? Has anyone else run into this problem?
OH Man, I just checked Zalman website and it turns out that the heatsink is too big for the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum. I looked at some other offerings they had and none fits. Can anyone recommend a good cooler that will fit to this mobo?
I want to get all my parts form newegg, and for OCZ they only have the 600Watt in stock and that is out of my price range. So I think I will get the Fortron. Thanks for the advice on not getting the ThermalTake.
Yeah I wasn't too sure about the Power Supply either. I had bad experiences with ThermalTake components before. I just like the clean design on this PowerSupply with the sleeved cables and all. Another choice would have been the Fortron Blue Storm 500 Watt but I will take a look at the one you...
