Just wanted to bump this thread a bit, since I've got a question..
A lot of time had passed, and I'd just point to my early post from the start of January.. So, almost full three months later - where did I go wrong? :P Ok, I did miss with 9600GT as it wasn't just 8800GT (256MB) tweaked and...
TalonMan - NP :) As for June.. I've said that cos I don't think it was slated to be in Feb anyway, but rather later (as May or something). But I'd be as happy as anyone here if it comes earlier :)
DaNotoriusDOM - it's not goodness of their heart. It's ATI cards that are selling for less and...
First off, I'm all with cannondale, farfromhome, Niceone.. and I think nissanztt and Silus are a bit too optimistic. Can't blame them for hoping, I was too - a month ago :)
But people, chill out a bit! No need to kill each others over beliefs and opinions!
For most of the part, I think...
Ok, Silus, we've got that. But it's also not coming in Feb/March than, that's NOT the card Kyle was talking in the first place.
In Feb (19th-21st) we'll be having 9600GT launch, and on CeBIT we'll see GX2 officialy (if they don't postpone it even more). And than I think you can forget about...
Well, there probably are people (like you) who can notice these things.. I've seen "scientific" articles where they calculate that better FPS means less lag from mouse-to-screen reactions, in like 2-3 frames time (real time duration depends on framrate used of course).
But I'm neither high-end...
@ChristmasGT - I'm even beyond that. I'm just interested for a game to run without issues and noticable slowdowns on a resolution that I play. That's it.. I've never seen any use of 110 vs 30 fps, as long as those 30fps aren't dropping to tens every few steps i nthe game.. So if I can get...
Just a few thoughts on GT200/R700
GT200 should be competing with R700, but R700 will be 2xRV770 and GT200 should be single chip according to all news.
So if we assume GT200=R700, this means that GT200 is around 2x(RV670+"more than50%")
Sooo...that's 3-4x the speed of current HD3870 cards...
So people, any news about 9800GTX?
I'm starting to believe the same thing that Niceone said - there won't be any. At least not in next few months..
I've been gathering a bunch of news and rumors about 3870X2 (which is out now for a while already), about 9800GX2, and there is already even a...

Nah, I ment 15% faster than ultra could be achievable by new 9800GTX. Meaning some 25% faster than current 8800GTX. But I wouldn't push it any further.. :(
P.s: Couldn't make a proper quote, sorry ppl, something's up with forum..or my computer :p
Silus (and others), if you believe Kyle's words 100%, than why do you keep arguing (and hoping)?!
Quote from the same article:
GeForce 8800 Ultra will be replaced by the GeForce 9800 GX2
The GeForce 8800 GTX will be replaced by the GeForce 9800 GTX
Now aditional facts:
Ultra = faster...
xp3nd4bl3, don't bother... Pretty much it seems Silus is only one convinced 100% that 9800GTX will be an uber-card that will crush all old nVidia cards, together with anything ATi can throw at it :) Be patient, all of you, Feb is right around the corner ;) Though I'm affraid we won't hear any...
True and false. Yes, new cards will be faster, and Ultra will be obsolete in a few weeks. But no, it doesn't say anything about 9800GTX, since GX2 is the one that wil obsolete Ultra, and not GTX.
Let's face it.. G80 is dead. Gone.. Architecture will live on, for now in G92, and also in low/mid end chips like G94/G96.
But G80 will be gone in a few weeks. All except GTX/Ultra are alredy EOL, and Ultra is not being produced anymore in any significant numbers, since all the manufacturers...
Hmmm, I've seen some benches of this card, and 9600GT with 512MB is about the same speed as 3850 256MB version (9600GT is always faster, but by like 1-2%, neglible). Since 8800GT is faster than both 3850 and 3870, it has more than enough space.. just needs to go like 5% down in price which is...
