Do you want a basic 2.1 setup, or do you want a surround setup?
I want to start with a 2.1 setup, but eventually expand it out to a 5.1 or 7.1 setup.
What will your sources be? (Dedicated CD player, computer, etc.)
Sources will be my computer, tv audio output, and Xbox 360.
What will this...
Figured the receiver would include an amplifier of some sort, but the receiver you linked me to is only putting out 50W per channel (total of 5). Think that's going to be enough? 50W per bookshelf and an active subwoofer, so I won't have to worry about the sub.
Optical cable's too easy...
Thanks so much for the reply, Empty_Quarter. I've got a few questions for ya.
Since I'm going passive, shouldn't I also look into an amplifier? Or am I missing something?
What gauge speaker wire would you suggest for a home theater setup? And the banana plugs just go on the end of speaker...
Hey guys,
So I'm wanting to upgrade my speaker system on my desktop from a basic Logitech 2.1 setup. I've never messed with piecing together a new speaker system though, so I'm completely clueless. From what I've gathered so far, I know I'll need a receiver, bookshelf speakers/monitors, and...
Well what sold me on it is the additional USB 3.0 ports, SATA 6.0Gb/s ports, and dual gigabit ethernet ports... Have yet to see another board like it in that area.
Edit: Can't really say "sold me on it", but it's what really caught my attention.
Went with 2 optical drives for two reasons:
1. If I ever need to make a duplicate of a disk, I can do so much easier.
2. Why not? Especially when they're only $20 each. I've had 2 optical drives in the last 3 systems I've built, and it just comes down to convenience. If I want to play a game...
Alright, I just ordered the following components as a starter:
1 x HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000.D 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
2 x SAMSUNG 22X DVD Burner Black SATA - OEM
1 x Crucial M4 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
1 x Microsoft Windows 7...
Makes sense. I'll probably stick to the MSI board. As for the case, I'm not sure what I'm gonna order for that just yet. Spend the extra money on the 800D or go with a smaller mid-tower case... Hmm... 800D might have sold me on the cable management options though. Lol
Thanks again, Danny. Once...
Thanks so much for the quick response, Danny Bui.
I only have 2 concerns with the advice given:
1. Many of the cases on the list may have problems with supporting 2 6950's, correct? I'm thinking about just going with the 800D, but that's a lot of money to drop into a case.
2. Why that specific...
Alright guys, just got our orders to come home, and it's sooner than I expected, so I'm going to order all my components by the end of the week.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming (WoW, BF3, SWTOR), Occasional Video Rendering
2) What's your...
Alright gentlemen, I'm looking to pick up 3 displays to use primarily for gaming. I'm wanting 24" identical monitors, preferably with Display Port for use with Eyefinity (or should I just go with Nvidia cards in SLI?) and/or HDMI. Low refresh rate, but also a somewhat low price. I'm not...
I'm curious to see how that shelf was made as well... I want to do something similar for storage for my Xbox and Cable box.
Also, .Gunfire, what speakers are those and how are you powering them, if you don't mind me asking?
Alright guys, so I've asked for help with 2 previous builds. One for me, one for my little brother. This is concerning the system I want to build as my new primary.
I play a lot of WoW when home in the states, and I've been toying with the idea of running Eyefinity. However, I also want to be...
Trying to build my little brother a new gaming PC as a Christmas gift. Details below.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Mainly just piddling around, school work, papers, etc. Has to be capable of playing WoW, CoD, etc though, due to his recent interest...
