I agree with your assessment of this monitor; I am VERY pleased with it.
I had a bit of an issue with the tiny icon and font size at 1920x1200; I got around it by increasing the DPI setting to Large (Display Properties>>Settings>>Advanced). If that's not enough, you could also increase the...
I've had the Gateway 2485 for a few days now. I haven't noticed the crushed blacks, but I haven't tested for it either. At some point I will; I just haven't had time yet. Also, I need to find a monochrome color chart to use; I had one, but can't find it.
I'll post back here if/when I have...
I wound up getting the Gateway 2485, since Dell delayed shipment on the 2407 and I got very pissed at them; at any rate, the old Radeon 9000 seems to be driving this monitor just fine. No gaming, just normal PC usage, including lots of Photoshop. I'm a happy camper.

My Dell Order Status page still shows today as the Estimated Ship Date, but it hasn't shipped yet, and it's almost the end of the day. I called and the CSR gave me a bunch of doubletalk instead of a straight answer, so I'm rapidly losing faith. I don't understand why some who placed their...
That's what I'm expecting with DHL...it happens every time. I'm kind of surprised Dell used UPS...it's always DHL when they ship to me; I'll take UPS over DHL any time.
Yikes...might be easier to just buy a new PC and move the hard drive over to the new one.

OK...so I just went on chat with them, and the 20th stands, but he upgraded it to Next Day for free. Now if DHL doesn't screw up (which they do with alarming regularity), I'll be a happy camper.

...and when I called a bit later to see if they could get it out earlier than the 20th, they told me nothing they could do!
I was pissed, but now I'm REALLY pissed!

...I figured I'd see how it works and then get a new card if I need it.
I forgot to mention use (which you did)...
No gaming, lots of typical PC work..browsing, word processing, spreadsheets, a retail planning system based on SQL Server, and a TON of Photoshop digital photo editing...
I have a Radeon 9000 which came installed in the PC (Compaq 6470CA); it's about 3.5 years old. I just ordered a Dell 2407 monitor, but I'm a bit concerned as to whether the 9000 can handle the larger monitor.
Does anyone have any experience with this, or have any thoughts about it...
I was just looking at my video card (Radeon 9000) properties...it only shows a max res of 1280x1024...I assume this means I'll need a new video card to drive a larger monitor?
Thanks.
Loren
hehe...IF I get it!
I was just looking at the Dell Outlet; they have a bunch of refurbed 2407's at $599...that's pretty tempting...is there any reason I shouldn't consider the Dell? My impression, up until reading a few messages online, was that it's a great monitor.
