    Asus p5k-e not posting

Asus p5k-e, Q9300, Corsair 620hx, evga 8800gts, some sort of corsair ram (2x2gb). At first it was making a single beep, followed by a 7-8 second pause and a second single beep - both the same duration as when a computer normally works (not long, not super short). I unseated the video card and...

    Q9450 Availablity

Thats too too big of a premium then. How does the Q9300 compare to the Q9450? Can't find direct benchmark comparisons. The Q9300 is only $280. Is extra cache and a few more megahertz worth $100? Not sure...

    Q9450 Availablity

$360? Yikes. $200 for E8400 or $360 for q9450, thats rough. Whats the retail on the q9450? I think $200 is about right for the E8400 despite people selling it for $260 recently. So maybe the q9450 will drop in price soon? Want to wait on the noctua NH-U12P to become available so I can wait a bit...

    Q9450 Availablity

Is the q9450 available from anywhere right now? I seem to have missed it at newegg. :( :( And if not is there any idea of when future shipments will arrive?

Making a new system, would love input

Whats the difference in the P180b and the p182? And whats the current state of quad core? I haven't followed that scene at all. At a glance the Q6600 is only 2.4ghz as opposed to the 3.0ghz of an E8400 / E6850. Thats a pretty huge drop in speed. Don't see any 45nm quad core either. Are those...

Making a new system, would love input

I didn't specify, but it is a 2x2gb solution. I'm currently look at the Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5 (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820145184) but I saw a thread in the memory forum talking about the new Dominator TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF...

Making a new system, would love input

So right now I'm rocking a P4 2.4ghz @ 533fsb with 512mb of the most ungodly slow ram you could imagine. This is all paired up with an ATI 9800pro with an amazing 128mb of ram. This bundle of joy is stuffed into a pos SFF case that I have to take the sides off or else it overheats when playing...

A CPU cannot match a PPU or GPU for physics!

Jesus H. Christ in a handbasket stop already. Graphics calculations do not have conditionals. Ok, well technically the shader 3.0 model allows for this, but you have to be careful as it can be extremely slow for the obvious reasons. PPUs are better than CPUs for physics, much better. Thats fine...

A CPU cannot match a PPU or GPU for physics!

Uhhh... I don't know how to respond other than no you're wrong? The most expensive part of physics is determining what objects x and interacting with objects y. I mean, when you have 30,000 blocks thats a rather large number of checks to make. Obviously there are activation algorithms and space...

A CPU cannot match a PPU or GPU for physics!

Not to be rude, but almost no one here, including both the 14 year old OP and myself, know much of anything on this matter. I'm here to point out that a current gpu can not replace the cpu for physics. A ppu is not involved in my argument. By the OP's logic a gpu can already do physics and...
