Current specs to start off:
Intel Core2Quad Q9550
Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3LR (will confirm its not the EP45T later)
4GB Corsair DDR2-800
Radeon 4850 (I believe)
Antec Earthwatts 380W PSU (again, I'll confirm when I get home)
Disks:
random WD Blue for Win7(maybe 740GB?)
random 500GB drive...
Really? From what I've read on AVS, the HD3000 built into your i3-2105 should be able to handle 1080p AND 3D without the use of a discrete card, and should never take your CPU over 50% even doing that... (again, from what I've read on there, reference here...
Isn't that more MW3? I could have swore DICE focused more on the PC end of things when it came to developing the game, and then worked on porting it over to consoles...
Hey all. With BF3 hitting beta this week and all, I'm beginning to worry about my 5870 and its ability to play new releases on maxed settings. Not sure if I'm worrying too much or not, so I guess first I'll lay out the specs:
ASUS P67 Sabertooth
i7-2600k (stock for now)
16GB Corsair...
Yeah I'm running the Sabertooth with the 1305 BIOS (shipped with it). I'm tempted to flash the new 1502, but there's no release notes for it anywhere to see if it'll actually help. I'm going to follow CarbonJoe's advice and try setting all the actual timings manually.
I've been having this issue with my Sabertooth P67 system I just put together the other day. I'm a bit concerned because I sat on the parts for a few weeks, so I'm almost at my 30-day return limit with Microcenter.
Specs are:
ASUS Sabertooth P67
Intel i7-2600k
Corsair Vengeance 16gb...
So essentially zpool is the "RAID" aspect of ZFS, but in the grand scheme of things the members of the pool don't have to be in any form of RAID (standalone)? Taking your example of the non-redundant disk, the 2 separate mirrors, and the raidz array, would the single disk pose as the OS disk...
So it seems from my (bit of) research, you would get FreeNAS (or whatever OS) up and running, and then add in your storage drives, formatting them to ZFS, and then you configure them using zpool? This whole setup should still be considered the same as typical RAID in that the disks should...
Thanks again sub.mesa. So based upon everything thats been discussed, would a more pedestrian distribution of Linux (such as Ubuntu or Mint) be able to accomplish functioning as a NAS utilizing the NAS-protocol and have software RAID with ZFS, or would I have to look into something else? As I...
Wow, thanks for that post sub.mesa. Bear with me hear as I'll admit again that I am really new to this stuff, even Linux in general. There has been mention of using the OS software RAID, would it still be recommended to avoid mixing my WD and Samsung drives in an array this way? I'm thinking...
For the meantime I will need one, as I don't want to rely on my onboard RAID like I am now as I have had it drop the array before for no good reason (which is why I bought the couple of Samsung drives). I have heard plenty of talk reading around here about using the software raid/fake raid with...
