Are wireless N routers worth it?

20mb/s vs. 90-100mbs? Is that worth it? 11g (11a as well) will get around 20mb/s according to published testing (and I've found similar at work) while 11n will get 90-100mb/s according to published testing (and I've found similar at work). Even if 11n could 300mb/s wouldn't 100mb/s be better...

Any Windows WPA2 Enterprise Wireless Experts?

I'm guessing you are using PEAP for the EAP type? You must have a certificate (cert) for PEAP to be supported on the Radius server (service won't start without it) but there are no requirements on the client. PEAP has an optional client cert piece but I've never heard of it being done. TLS...

    Your CPU progression

Intel 386SX 16 486-25 486-33 Pentium (maybe PII?) 233mhz PII 450mhz (forgot some K6 and Cyrix CPUs of various types) Tons of AMD ~1ghz durons (myself and family computers) AMD 2500+ (Athlon I think... Barton core IIRC) Still running in daughter's computer AMD 3500+ single core AMD 4200+ Dual...

Which of these setups would you choose (860 vs. 920)?

Food for thought: How long do you hold onto hardware? If you aren't going to keep it long enough to use the 'possible upgrade' options then is it worth getting that option? If you keep it long enough to possibly use the 'upgrade options', what are the chances you will actually use it (instead...

Buying a E5200-Anything Special to Look For?

The e5200 is a great performer for it's price. I believe the R0 is supposed to be a little better. I have mine stable @ ~3.875 @1.3875v. I am still trying to get more out of it but my voltage settings are off (I'm not sure which voltages to set where). I can run 4ghz @ ~1.4-1.41v but I...

    E6700 266x10 vs 333x8 Raising the FSB

I rarely test more than 20-30 minutes then start playing games to finish stress testing. I've not had issues with unstable OC using that method for testing. To each his own though, I'll probably be told that under 24 hours is not enough (they need to tell my computers that though, not me!!!). :)

worth an upgrade from pent d?

awesome chip so far!! It's can be OC'ed pretty easy to 3.3-3.5 with stock cooler or undervolted a bit for 2.5-2.8 operations and it runs fairly cool regardless. Not bad for $70 delivered.

    Overclocking... memory 1:1

I'm just moving over to the Intel side of things after a 10+ year absence. I have the e5200 on a UD3R (in my sig) overclocked to ~3.5GHZ using several different combinations like 10.5x333, 12.5x280, etc. I have tried changing the FSB strap (think that's the official Intel term) to 266 and 333...

    suggest processor for gaming

775 budget e5200 That's what I'm moving into right now. e5200 with Gigabyte UD3R and 2x1gb (I know) while reusing everything else = ~$200 AR delivered. It's a huge step up from my 939 x2 @2.9ghz and I'm only at 3ghz on the e5200 so far (just started and don't have it water cooled yet).

    Gigabyte EP45-UD3 models

This is what I've been looking for... since I have a simple AMD mind!! :) http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/reviews/14031-gigabyte-ga-ep45-ud3r-living-review-2.html Go down to the 5th picture which is a chart for the straps and explanations. This should be easily found on the net but I've yet to...

    Gigabyte EP45-UD3 models

Newegg was the bomb again and got it here in under 48 hours (3 day ground). I have the basics set up in a spare chassis until my Intel 775 watercooling extras show up today or tomorrow. Other than the SATA2 HDD installation for Windows XP installation, it seems to be going well. I'm running...

    2*2gb and 2*1gb together?

    +1 I would stay with the 2x2gb for XP or go 2x2gb + 2x1gb if Vista/Win7.

    DDR2 Ram Pricing...

I paid $130 for 4mb in the early 90's for 386sx16...it's amazing how much $130 will get you now!!! DDR2 is throw away cheap now. DDR is impossible to afford if you have a board which needs it. :(

    Gigabyte EP45-UD3 models

I went with OCZ Gold pc1100 ram 2x1gb. It's $20 AR which is next to nothing imho. Probably should have gone with 2x2gb but 2gb has been enough for my 939 to date. Why 1100 instead of 800 or 1066?... OC head room and it's $20 AR (and OCZ is pretty good about rebates). This is the part of the...
