Intel Skylake Core i7-6700K IPC & Overclocking Review @ [H]

Anybody want to take a guess at how well a 6700K/Z170 would stack up to an old X5680/X58 combo?

No point, they're in there temporarily for pre-configuration and a POC--all the ears were left in the boxes.

To be honest, it's not even set up yet. This is an eval system (one X-Brick) that we've got to kick around for a while. We're going to move some high IOPS workloads over to it from a VNX 5400 and see if it makes a measurable improvement. This isn't the first one we've set up though, they...

They've all got their quirks I suppose. I don't want to say the ASAs are without fault, but I'm certainly more comfortable with that platform over the others. We use the Fortigates for some of our internal infrastructure and they seem to do a pretty good job, but the remote access VPN...

And some cabling pr0n: This is a rack from a previous employer, mostly user ports and patch panels to other racks on the row. Time, neglect and sloppiness are how it arrived at this state. I gutted the entire rack, replaced some switches and installed shorter cables (2ft vs 7-10ft) and some...

It's been a while since I've posted in here, but I thought I'd share a few pics of my "permanent" lab rack at work. I rotate other gear in and out as needed, but this stuff stays put: Top to bottom: Aruba S3500-24P PoE Switch Cisco 2950-24 Switch (Management Net) Aruba 3200 Controller Aruba...
