FIXED: now running at 4.7ghz and 1.39v - 1.43v depending on load.
CPU PLL in bios was set to auto i thought that meant it was enabled
but it was not so i enabled it and it all works fine now.
Update: At 4.7ghz. temps 35c idle and 56c 100% load.
Max voltage in HW monitor was 1.39v
using cpu enhanced halt so it drops down to 1.6ghz when idle at 1v
New problem
In windows pc runs fine at above speeds etc
when i power off and back on again bios says default cpu speed of x33
and freezes...
ok i took out 1 stick of ram and changed settings in bios and its now at 4.6ghz 1.34v in HW monitor
Temps are 35c idle and 52c 100% load and 7.22 score on cinebench 11.5.
I honestly think the bios is the root of all the problems with OC ing these chips lol.
i might blue screen yet i honestly...
My new i5 2500k seems the same as yours it will do 4.3ghz but will BSOD at 4.4ghz and the bios will freeze at 4.5ghz. not too happy with it so far. tried various settings but nothing works so far although i dont know too much about what settings to change.
