What other monitors and panels have you tried to be able to compare?
I have tried/tested more than 20 different monitors... and believe me, if it's a TN panel, the difference with a MVA or IPS is huge.
Of course it's totally different if it's not a TN panel... but then what panel is it...
In this case, they do... bcs they show that it's a TN panel and that means only 16.2mio colors (by dithering), bad viewing angles and bad movie quality.
It could also be a standard TN panel (without overdrive): the 8ms was released at the end of 2004 (it's the panel in the Hyundai L90D+, Samsung 913/915, Benq FP937s+...).
So it's possible that they improved it now and made it faster without using overdrive. It would be great.

The new Samsung 17" SyncMaster 178B and the 19" SyncMaster 198B sport this new extremely fast LCD response time. Samsung achieves 4ms response time with their RTA (Response Time...
@mistar: it's 8ms G2G (gray to gray) not 8ms standard repsonse time like for the Hyundai L90D+ that uses a 8ms TN panel... that's why I was still doubting.
Ok, now I have a true confirmation. It uses overdrive:
The french site www.hardware.fr just posted the test of the Fujitsu Siemens...
Can you plz tell me where did you see that it uses overdrive... I know lots of ppl say that, but I never saw it officially written on a Samsung document. I just wanna be sure.
I've seen lots of ppl saying that this LCD uses overdrive, but I never saw it on Samsung's page or in the monitor's specs (checked the .pdf too)...
Is this PVA panel with or without overdrive?
