You guys can't buy on Newegg? That sucks
Anyway, if his main caveat is gaming, 120hz is really worth it (IMO) and the colors / blacks/ etc on this TN display are quite good, it's really nothing to complain about at all. There's a reason a ton of gamers refuse(d) to switch from CRT, simply...
Planar SA2311W- simply a fantastic monitor: true 120hz, Nvidia 3d-capable, 23" 1920x1080

black november -15% = $297.50 free shipping, which is certainly under £250
The higher refresh rate really makes a huge difference for games...
Me neither. I've been experiencing the horizontal tearing, as well, and the replacement arrives tomorrow, which should fix that issue.
Otherwise this monitor is fantastic.
Sorry to bump an old thread, but if I'm interested in getting a set of these, should I go for the older version? Used/open-box on eBay, perhaps, but how could I tell the version?
I just ordered mine as well :) (from Buy.com)
Excited. Hopefully it won't have any tearing as is so I don't have to wait longer for a firmware-updated one from Planar to arrive.
I contacted Planar support, as well, and they say that they will actually post in this forum as soon as the firmware fix is complete and they begin shipping updated monitors. Should be soon, 1-2 weeks (3 days ago) is the ETA.
Well, if they said his unit was defective it wouldn't make any sense that all units have the tearing... else all are defective, lol.
I figure I'll wait a little while then until they fix the tearing issue, might shoot them an e-mail in the meanwhile.
Ah, so not all units are affected by the tearing? And if it is, they'll replace it?
Seems like I shoudn't worry about getting one then. Only other 'bad' thing I heard about it was a low amount of input lag--do you guys notice it at all?
That's good to hear that they're working on a solution.
I am strongly considering getting this monitor (mainly for 2D, but I'll try the 3D out for sure), what has your experience been so far, overall?
Thanks for the heads up. I might do something like that as well, with a 2-slot 570. I guess I'll have to see when it comes time :)
I figure I shouldn't have the problem with the sound card, though, since the DX is PCI-e.
I think it's a NA issue. The Steelseries shop has them available in the international section, but not the NA section.
I found a reasonably-priced reliable UK dealer on ebay (58 GBP ~= 97 USD), free shipping.

What about the Planar SA2311W, how does it compare to these?
It can be got for $400 on Newegg or for $500 bundled with the Nvidia 3D Vision Kit (the latter a really great deal imo)
