    The indie title Evochron Mercenary is pretty good, it's got newtonian physics, you can customize your ship, do all sorts of stuff...it's community is pretty active, has MP, and a very small footprint on your HDD. It's a little more simulation and less arcade vs a lot of the suggested titles...
