intels site says that only ata-66 or ata-100. when i connected the wd(400) ata-100 the computer works. The maxtor ata-133 worked for 3 or 4 days and now it doesn't in that computer. The maxtor will in other computers.
i did some more research and found the the motherboard supports ata-100 and not the ata-133 i bought, but why would it work for a few days then stop? if i get a ultra ata-100 would that work?
there is the intel board like stated before, hd is a maxtor diamondmax plus 9 (80gig ata 133), and a Artex model no# bkm-52x16c combo drive. there is a stick of pc-400 512 mb samsung M368L6523CUS-CCC also. nothing else.

the fans turn on for a second and then nothing. it's like a breaker trips when i turn it on. i then have to turn off the psu by the on/off switch in the back and turn it on again to get the computer to anything.
i have a new maxtor diamondmax plus 9 hd and the computer i put it in worked fine. I put xp home on it with no problems. 2 days later the computer won't boot even into bios. i tried the hd in other computers and they start fine. is this power supply not enough to run this hd? i put a wd400...
