Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Bought a Geeksquad 700 UPS. It screamed overload when I had my 24" dell and puter plugged into the UPS slots. Switched them over to the surge-only slots. Didn't even think about a UPS not handling all that wattage. That new power factor correction also trips a GFCI circuit, but it all works...
If I set my FSB to 1400 or 1600, my memory clock stays at 800MHz but if I move anywhere in between, my memory clock moves into the 700s. Why does the memory clock move around if I have the FSB - Memory speed option set to 'unlinked'?
So if I wanted orthos stability, is the first step lowering the FSB frequency or lowering voltages? If FSB, what Mhz increments do you recommend ratcheting down on...10Mhz at a time 1600 to 1590 etc? Same for voltages, .1v at a time or what?
My CPU is at 30C idle. My enermax is mounted to pull from inside the case (per their suggestion) even though the TJ09 has a bottom grill and I could have pulled from the outside but with the clearance between the bottom of the case and my carpet, I didn't think the airflow would be too good. I...
Should I care if Orthos crashes my system after 75 seconds but my games and regular computer use never cause any problems? My core temp never goes over 45 degreesC.
I'm running stable at the current config at 30 degrees stationary, and up to 45 under heavy use. Voltage FSB is 1.5. My 3dmark06 was 10k+ and the CPU rating was at 2900ish.
No problems so far (fingers crossed). Memory and GPU overclock is next....once I figure out enough of what and how to...
Well, I finally finished my first build. Ended up using:
TJ09 Case
1000W Enermax (had a weird problem with this...talk about it down below)
E6600
evga8800 GTX
evga 680i mb
dominator 8500 2x1mb
36g raptor and 250g caviar16
nautilus 500 water cooler
Can't believe I did it without...
after all the advice, i've decided to go back with the silverstone tj09 and enermax galazy 1000W and and a 37 10k raptor OS drive with a 250 caviar se16 data drive. final cost at 2400ish with the logitech inputs.
Ok, I still can't choose a case. There are like 40 Lian Li cases, of which i cant tell the difference...thermaltake also has lots of nice cases....can any1 just give a great one to get for the cash? and i don't care about looks or lights.
Okay, I'm gonna ask two noob questions:
1. How do you point the puter to use one drive for the OS?
2. Where the best how-to-build FAQ on the net, cuz this will be my first?
I decided to go with this drive....i just don't need much space...right now my machine with my games and all my wife's pictures and crap only uses 30 gig.
Western Digital Raptor WD740ADFD 74GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive
I switched to this Lian Li case for $219. LIAN LI...
What's with the EVGA superclocked gtx on newegg? Does that just mean they overclock it before they send it to you? If so, i guess the benefit is you get an overclocked GPU with the warranty still in place for an extra 20 dollars?
okay, you guys have dropped me about 1400 bucks...rock on.
How much performance drop will I see with the single barracuda instead of twin 74s? Does it affect gameplay, say in SOE's new Vanguard MMO?
I won't be using the rig for anything but games, no storage, no publishing, no 20 speakers...
I've been convinced by these forums to build my own "high" end rig rather than pay overdrive or maingear to do it. Can the resident geniuses please take a look at my build list and let me know of any changes i should make for: 1. better performance or quality (without a big price spike), 2...
