A HD 6870 would have been an enormous step up from what they have in consoles at the moment. I suppose a R700 based GPU isn't too bad. They are quite capable in their own right and considering there will be no software layer and they will be writing to the metal.. it's actually quite respectable...
Any idea why though? Like I said nothing is overclocked, I have a decent PSU(or had), the temperatures all seemed to be perfect whenever I checked them, the case is quite decent, well ventilated and the fans are all in working condition. I'm not sure what I did wrong, thanks for the response.
I've had my 4850 for nearly three years now and it has never had any problems up until a few weeks ago. My computer started having major problems. Initially it was the PSU that went(decent brand and 550W which I think was okay for my GPU) so I replaced it with a 750W model.
