The VRAM issue is why I went with 3gb GTX580's for my Tri-SLI rig. I tried it with the original 1.5gb versions, and it choked at 5760x1200. Now it's glass-smooth.
I'm amazed that this highly priced card doesn't come with 3gb framebuffers. You'd be much better off getting 3 GTX 580's with the...
I Love [H].
They are the *only* review site that will tell you the God's-honest truth. Every other site just wants to protect their "relationships" with the manufacturers.
I never buy anything unless it passes muster with these dudes. Now I think they need to branch out into cars :)
If you disable Cat AI, you lose CrossfireX in this graphically demanding game. It takes both my 5870's to get decent framerates in 5760x1200, but without Vsync the tearing and jerking is just awful.
ATI - you really really need to fix this.
The old beta's didn't fix the problem.
Now, when you say most people are using 24" monitors, are you saying that 24" systems (at 1920x1200x3) are working, whereas 1680x1050x3 aren't? (sorry - can't remember what you're running).
I wanted to see how well the whole thing worked before I invested...
Small updates:
If I unplug the DP monitor cable and then plug it back in - the display comes alive. Same if I unplug/plug the USB cable that's powering my DP-DVI converter.
If I turn off the monitor and then back on again - the display comes alive, but only for a while.
I tried turning off...
Rhyme, I'm having almost the same issue - with or without Eyefinity enabled: whatever monitor is connected to the DisplayPort goes blank randomly. I thought it was just Eyefinity, but even when I just do normal desktop spanning (such as with Crossfire enabled), that DP monitor goes into...
Damn right it's worth the money. It brings tears to my eyes to think about all we could have done with the hundreds of billions we've blown on Iraq.
For the record, I'm a USAF Major. No bleeding heart - but I have a brain. Just so sad what might have been. Future generations will wonder...
That's great and all, but it doesn't answer the question. I'd file it under "unsolicited advice" - sort of like when people jump all over you for overclocking an i7-920 because it was already "fast enough" or whatever.
Anyway - I can't find this supposed feature either, and I 'm running 7...
I'm running GTX280's in Tri-SLI and the 180.48's gave me a HUGE improvement in SLI performance in all games, but it was most noticeable (of course) in Warhead.
I'm now running 3840x800 (I have a triple widescreen setup) with 8AA at better speeds than before with no AA. I took it up to 16AA...
I totally agree. It's so frustrating because, when the drive isn't thrashing, I'm getting great framerates. I could turn down Objects to mainstream - but then I get horrendous pop-in.
On Crysis (the original), none of this was a problem. I could run maxed out at 1920x1200 with no hitching...
