I just orded this board last time since since my POS Asus P67 Sabertooth doesnt boot if its been shut down for more than 2 seconds.So far i was happy with my new rig.
Make sure you have the latest bios on your motherboard. Some people are saying you need a matching intel ROM with driver version, not sure if this is true or not but can't hurt to get them as close as possible. I have the intel rom 3.0.1.1370 and using the 3.0.0.3020 drivers without issue...
I wouldn't recommend auto-overclocking, it dosnt always work (as you know) and it often applies high voltages that aren't needed. If you are going to overclock, take time and make it a project. However, a 2500k is a very strong, fast cpu, and you probably wont see much difference overclocking...
That chipset and that CPU were released around the same time and were designed to work with eachother.
ASRock makes decent motherboards. Not the best but they get the job done
