Okay, this is the build I ended up making for her:
Motherboard: ASRock B75M-ITX

CPU: Core i3 3220
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tactical, Low Profile, 2 x 4 GB

Cooler: Zalman CNPS2X...
My own PC is housed in an SG05. It's a very nice cab, but it's way to big for the build I have in mind :)
The main thing that makes me dismiss the NUC is the lack of connectivity. A DVI output, at least 4 USB ports in the back and a separate audio output of some sort would be my minimum...
So, my old mother got this small Atom + ION system that I build for her some years ago. It's starting to show its age... that old Atom CPU is becoming a bottleneck. I can't help getting the urge to build a new one. She insists that it's still an adequate PC and would rather spend the money on...
Yes, it's nice. But it's way too big. The G-Alantic GA6201 is exactly what I was looking for.
But I have canceled my order on the motherboard. I'm gonna spend the money on another nerdy hobby of mine instead.
Yes, but it's not the expansion card I'm talking about. It's the motherboard itself:

I have just ordered myself an Intel DN2800MT mini-itx motherboard, an OCZ Nocti mSATA SSD and some Kingston Value RAM. All I need now to have a tiny passively cooled PC is a case. The DN2800MT comes with both a normal IO back-plate and a half-height version.
I'd like to use a case that...
I admit what I'm writing is nonsense. I should have been more specific. What I meant was that a 32bit optimized application will use twice as much space in RAM if the 32bit values are just placed in 64bit registers without any further manipulaton. A 64bit register can hold lager values, so it...
That's true. But the 64bit values also takes up twice as much space in the RAM. As long as you have 3.5GB of RAM or less in your PC, it's best to use a 32bit OS. But that's just my opinion.
Don't think so. Some AMD boards has so-called "Hybrid CrossFire" that alows you to make the shitty onboard gfx work in CrossFire with a specific equally shitty PCIe card. I don't know if Nvidia has a similar "mutant SLI" solution, but I think it's useless anyway. You are much better off with...
