NEC's "Advanced" S- IPS is the same as the HP "Enhanced" S-IPS (both Philips panels) just a different tag. Of coures the widescreen is a different panel, but the panel technology is similar if not the same. Perhaps you got one of the better NEC 20WGX's but Tom's hardware review of your monitor... -

It is incredible. I do a lot photo editing and it's the best monitor I've seen for that - stable consistent colors across the screen and good angle viewing. The glossy NEC's have a glare that isn't present on the HP. I have a flicker free model. I had to tone down the brightness off default... -

I think you misunderstand. Open ANY image (not a screen shot) in photoshop. That's just to activate the eyedropper tool. Then when you sample areas outside of photoshop, it gives RGB readings, which would tell you if there is a difference in the pixels on the one side vs. the other. And in my... -

What I did - open an image in Photoshop in a minimized screen so you can see the right and left sides of the msn.com screen, make sure the color palette is open, grab the colorpicker/eyedropper and click the mouse in an area of the image in PS and continue to hold down the mouse button and move... -

Not everyone experiences the flickering (see some of the dpreview posts) but as always, you see more posts on people that have problems, than ones who don't unless specifically asked :-) I have a real early model GMS001, no flicker, so perhaps something changed since then. -
