I recently purchased a Samsung 710t and i had 2 dead pixels i was able to rub one of them and it went away while the other is still there but i have to search for it and it takes me time to find it so no big deal.
I have this exact same problem with my brand new Samsung 710T, when i first got the monitor it worked flawlessly for about 2 hours and then the line popped up. It occurs with the DVI and analog connection, my old monitor works fine so it is not my 9800pro. It also occurs with the Samsung drivers...
