Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
In preparation for some games coming out later this year (Skyrim, Diablo III, etc.), is it worth it to upgrade my 5870 to a 6 series or an NVidia card (580 or something)? The guys in the CPU forum talked me out of upgrading my i7-930 chip so now I'm wondering about GPU.
I'd be willing to...
They're both coming toward the end of the year, It's me being proactive!
So not to get totally offtopic, but have we seen Moore's law go out the window? I bought this thing over a year ago using my "buy the second or third best chip out there so I'm not breaking the bank", but it seems...
Thanks for the feedback all, maybe I'll just add a second video card for now. Basically I'm just ramping up to be able to display the crap out of Skyrim and Diablo III which I'm guessing is still mostly about video card performance.
I'll check it out and wait for a deal on a second Radeon.
Right now I have a rig I put together and I'm considering upgrading the CPU, but if I do that it looks like I need to upgrade the MOBO and probably the RAM.
If I want to move to a Sandy Bridge CPU, the i7-2600K for instance, it looks like I have to get an LGA1155 MOBO. Right now I have a...
Probably going to have AVA do it,I have a 4 week old baby so the time necessary to order, assemble, install and troubleshoot is more than I'll be able to free up.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
1920x1200 gaming, potentially with two monitors (see below)
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
under 2500 is ok, under 2k would be great (tax and ship not included)
3) Where do you live...
I'm considering getting a second 8800gtx for my computer and I'm wondering if I'll have any problems fitting the second GTX in there. The slot is open and I don't see anything that would block it, but I want to see if anyone else has run this setup and whether they've had any issues.
Also...
Thanks for the information Danny.
Does anyone know where I can find benchmarks that show what kind of improvement comes from upgrading to 1066MHz memory from 800, and/or from an E6600 (stock) to a QX6800 (stock)? I was planning to get everything up to 1066MHz and then try my hand at...
Right now I have the following:
nForce 680i mb
E6600 CPU
4gb Corsair PC2-6400
1 evga 8800GTX
CM Stacker 830 Evo (3 added fans on the side panel)
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750W Power
Asus Silent Square CPU Cooler Copper/Aluminum
EDIT: TWO 24" Monitors, one Dell 2407 and one Mac (with DV-I)
I'm...
I just built a system and did what MT said. Got one GTX for now, and will add a second later in the year when they are cheaper and a couple more games that can really push them are out (Crysis). I'll also likely upgrade to a quad core at that time (6600 right now).
To be honest, I could have gotten SLI, but didn't see a real need right now vs. later in the year when the second card will be cheaper and the games that will need it (DX10 games) will be out.
Am I really going to notice the difference between 60 and 90FPS on Oblivion/Titan Quest/NFS Carbon...

Find me a place where you can get SLI and WC plus what I have for ~3k, other than Cyberpower. I was unable to do so using AVA, VM, iBuypower, etc.
Good point on the sound though, I neglected to mention I'll be getting an X-fi platinum card, just didn't want to use them because...
