    Which is better?

I don't know which is better for gaming, but I know that a Q6600 at 3870 MHz can use a lot of power, as I just got a bill that showed a jump of about $75 per month for hydro. I had an older B3 stepping Q6600 that I have traded for an E8400 CPU that is still new in box. I am looking forward to...

To wait for the Q9450 or to not wait for the Q9450

I just wanted to comment on my own Q6600 G0's strengths and weaknesses. I have had this chip for a couple of weeks now, and have probably spent 30 hrs trying to tune it to my DFI P35 series motherboard for maximum performance. I can get it to 3700 MHz Prime 95 Stable for 8 hr+ with just...

To wait for the Q9450 or to not wait for the Q9450

When I see Intel predicting that Nehalem is "the most dramatic architecture shift since the introduction of the front-side bus in the Pentium Pro in 1996" (Pat Gelsinger), I recall the early days of the Pentium 4 processors, and how underwhelming they were at the start. Or how about Intel's...

To wait for the Q9450 or to not wait for the Q9450

I was in the same general situation a couple of days ago. I had a Q6600 B3 that was running hot, and was not particularly fast. In my case, I was waiting for an E8500 to arrive, but my supplier found out on day of estimated delivery that they were backordered with no ETA (at least in my area)...

Please give opinion on proposed water cooling system

This system is going into a Silverstone TJ-09 case, which has no room for thick radiators like the Thermochill PA.120 series. In addition, this system is in my bedroom, so I had to blend performance with reasonable noise levels. Here is what I have planned: Enzotech Sapphire CPU and...

Which radiator is better, the Swiftech MCR220 or the Black Ice GT Stealth 240?

I want to thank those that responded to my original post. The general consensus seems to be that the Swiftech radiator is the way to go. The Black Ice Pro radiator is not available from my distributor, and the Swiftech has the best price AND best performance, so I will order it tomorrow.:)

Which radiator is better, the Swiftech MCR220 or the Black Ice GT Stealth 240?

I am in the process of creating an order for my first water cooling system. It will be housed in a Silverstone Temjin TJ09 case, with the radiator mounted in top (where factory created 2 x 120 mm fan holders). The problem I face is that the total depth of the radiator and fan cannot exceed 66...

    Silverstone TJ09!

Basically, what you need to do is remove the screws that hold the handles on to the cage, and then remove the handle and remount it 180 degrees from how it was before. It makes for a tight fit, but doing this allowed me to tidy up my HD cabling quite a bit:)

Plans for 1st Water Cooling sytem. Any feedback?

I have a Q6600 B3 CPU now, but come January 20th, it is being replaced with either a E8500 dual core Penryn or a Q9550 quad core version. All the groundwork I am doing now is to get the best performance out of my new processor in January. P.S. I can get my B3 up to 3450 MHZ Prime 95 stable 8...

Plans for 1st Water Cooling sytem. Any feedback?

I have just picked up a Silverstone TJ07 case, and plan to put a water cooled system in it. I am trying to get a system that offers excellent overall performance, is relatively quiet, and is reliable. I already have a DFI LanParty UT P35 T2R Motherboard with an Intel Q6600processor (B3...

What gives the most accurate temps?

I just built a new system around a Q6600 B3 stepping processor, and am wondering what the processors safe temp limits are? Also what software gives the most accurate results: TAT, Speedfan with 15C offset, or Core Temp. 0.95? With a modest overclock(2700 MHz) running 4 instances of Prime 95...
