Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
That's great to hear. Thanks for the reply
I dont understand then why the non-adjusting stand is a big drawback (for the 27"), as replacement vesa stands are only $20-30. (other than having to pay extra for it).
Any suggestions for a good stand? I don't know anything about vesa stands, but...
A quick question I hope someone can answer:
The 27" only says it's VESA mountable in the specs. Does that mean you can buy a height adjustable stand (such as from monoprice) and put it on that?
The only thing keeping me from getting it is I need to lower the monitor all the way down to desk...
Thanks for the reply. Thanks sort of what I'm doing...I just quickly spin it so it gets in the area of what I'm clicking, and then fine tune with a second motion. However, it's basically doubling the time vs. a mouse, which is done in one quick movement.
However, even once I'm in the...
I have the Logitech m570 and Marble trackballs, with the Dell 27" u2711 display. I really would like to switch to a trackball to give my wrist a rest during long work hours. However, after a week of using it exclusively, I just can't seem to get the hang of it. I know the m570 is extremely...
Thanks for the reply. Does anyone know if it's possible for a computer's graphics card to wear out a monitor somehow. I know it's not the vga port because the u2711 also has the horiz. lines with other input sources now. However, it seems almost impossible that three ultrasharp monitors can...
I've started getting horizontal colored lines filling the exact left half of my u2711.
It will happen randomly throughout the day (not related to what I'm doing). It's as if the display is divided into two halves - the right side is perfect; left is just going crazy with shaking lines.
Any...
I just got my u2711 today. The anti-glare coating (thankfully!) is MUCH less noticeable than the u2410, which I have sitting next to it. It was very bothersome on that, but not at all on the u2711.
Also, black levels are great - no worse than the 2709w (va panel). To me the u2410 had very...
I'm still trying to figure out for sure if the monitor supports 1440 via hdmi.
After some more research, It appears this monitor is HDMI 1.3.
from u2711 manual:
"12 bit internal processing which tested HDMI1.3 with deep color (12bit)"...
That's very interesting, thanks for that.
I always found the 2408wfp had better blacks and CR than the u2410. (as is often the case with ips)
I figured this wasn't the case with the u2711 since the reviews were saying the blacks/contrast are great. Maybe the 2709w is a better choice for me...
I have a question to anyone who has perhaps compared this with Dell's previous 27", the 2709w.
If I basically just do movies and web browsing (no color sensitive/photo work), which would be better? I understand the 2709w is 15 square inches bigger due to 16:10. For movies, I understand pixels...
Thanks. Can anyone else confirm that HDMI 1.3 will give the max res. of 1440 (rather than the dvi dual-link)?
Also, does anyone know how to tell if my laptop graphics card will support it - I can't seem to figure it out? (new Dell Inspiron 1464 laptop with "Intel® HD Graphics")
thanks!
One thing I'm confused about - hope someone can clarify.
I understand you need a dual-link dvi capable computer for the top resolution. My Dell laptop only has vga and hdmi. Would I get the 1440 res.? Anyway I can be sure (it uses integrated intel graphics card)
thanks
Agreed --- can someone who just got their u2711 please confirm if it uses the exact same matte screen (i.e. grainy sparkle) that the u2410 has?? Slightly less, slightly more? Would be great to know.
Many thanks!! That profile worked great for me. One problem I have that I hope someone can answer:
My lightest shades of grey appear pink. Does anyone know which setting would fix this or determines this characteristic? For example, on the Lagom White saturation test, the bottom row of...
