Since when was a 4670k a flagship? I was using that example to illustrate the fact that Haswell cpus run hotter than previous gen cpus. Don't forget TDP is only the max amount of heat specified that the stock heatsink must be able to handle at stock settings. For example, a cpu with a specified...
I'm talking about the thermal envelope as in max safe temperature recommended by the manufacturer. It has been AMD for quite sometime now recommending max safe operating temperatures of 62 degrees celsius.
You've either been living in a cave or you've neglected to read all the user...
Last I checked, Haswell runs pretty hot. The AMD cpus are designed to run in a cooler thermal envelope. So you're right on the i3 saving a bit on power consumption but not the heat.
Your point is moot. That $180 i5 can't even overlock. An overclocked 7850k will be neck and neck with it. And when HSA becomes relevant, the 7850K will "stomp all over"
the i5.
Again, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. Don't forget the 7850K can be overclocked. The i3 can't.
Even then I wouldn't be so sure. The 7850K is no slouch when it comes to pushing dedicated gpu's and lacks much of the bottleneck that the FX series have in single threaded games. But...
I didn't say anything about Intel cpu's being inferior in general. I said the i3 specifically is inferior to the 7850K. Not sure what point you're trying to make with ITX mobos. It doesn't change the fact that the i3 is still inferior.
For D3 a 7850K should more than suffice. That game is not graphically demanding at all. Hell, one of my friends plays it on a laptop. Also, the 7850K is faster clock for clock then any of the FX offerings. Though due to the new process it seems that most overclocks are only getting to 4.5 ghz...
Too bad quicksync is garbage quality. Why are you even trying to argue this? An i3 is simply inferior to the 7850K no matter how you look at it. It has an inferior igp, inferior drivers, and can't even overclock.
