I'm pretty sure the bios flash changes memory timings and voltages, allowing for even more overclocking headroom. So an unflashed XT couldn't reach the same speeds as one flashed with the XTX bios.

Please do! That'll be one hurdle down. Now I have to figure out why atiflash or flashrom won't detect my video card :(

Tried there. Doesn't have my card's bios. I've about given up. I've tried every possible bios, including taking a 512 bios and modifying it with RaBiT with still no success.
